- "This young, loyal Rescue Pup is one of an elite breed of space dogs that's long served the Shepherd family. This is his first mission."
- — Oatchi's ID badge
The Oatchi is a space dog introduced in Pikmin 4. The dog is owned by Captain Erma Shepherd and is found by the player when they first land on the planet, having been a part of the Rescue Corps the player is intended to aid. According to his ID badge, Oatchi is from the planet Giya.
Oatchi has the carrying capacity of three Pikmin when first found. This, among every other one of his skills, can then be upgraded. After Oatchi grows, he becomes a rideable companion for the player and the Pikmin. He can swim in water, carry objects and enemies, perform a destructive rush attack, jump, and damage enemies, among other skills.

Oatchi can be controlled by the player, acting as a secondary leader that can carry and command Pikmin by himself. This is unlocked after entering the Industrial Maze in Sun-Speckled Terrace, due to Oatchi (conveniently) being separated from the captain.
