The disappearance of Monica caused Baron Ochs much grief. He was likely informed by a mysterious group that they were holding Monica hostage, and would threaten her if their demands were not met. Baron Ochs, concerned for his daughter's safety, immediately complied and went to Enbarr, obtaining the item they had requested; the Vajra-Mushti. Before he could leave however, Byleth and their students arrived after Balthus informed them that Hapi had been kidnapped.
Desperate to save his daughter, Baron Ochs used the Vajra-Mushti's power; however, as he had no Crest, he soon transformed into a Demonic Beast. He was put down after an intense battle, his final words being an apology to his daughter for failing her.

Trivia
- Baron Ochs is the only enemy in the main story of Three Houses to be in a special class.
- In Cindered Shadows, there are more enemies in DLC classes, but this is a sidestory not considered part of the main canon.
- The paralogue that Baron Ochs appears in becomes unlocked after chapter 6, which first introduces Monica. It is unknown why he would still help the Agarthans and oppose Byleth and their class after it was revealed that his daughter was found, unless he was somehow made aware that the Monica at the monastery was an imposter.
- Why he would not then reveal this information to the Church is unknown, but he was likely blackmailed and intimidated to stay quiet.
