Etymology
Amalthea is the name of a sacred goat who became Zeus's foster mother when his biological mother Rhea attempted to protect him from Kronos. The name Amalthea means 'tender goddess' in Greek mythology.
Amalthea is also the name of one of Jupiter's moons.
