"Family Scareloom" is the second segment of the sixty-second episode of Vampirina. It is the second half of the twelfth episode in the third season. It premiered on October 20, 2020.
Synopsis
Nanpire is visiting to store some old family scarelooms in the Hauntleys' attic.
Plot
Nanpire goes through the supplies of the first members of the Hauntley family, and Vampirina likes them. Nanpire tells her it was sweet of Oxana and Boris to store her treasure in the attic while she is on her broom tour vacation. Vampirina mentions that the old supplies are Hauntley family scarelooms, which have been in the Hauntley family for centuries and are passed down from one generation to another. They are also charmed with the greatest magic of all, which is what makes them precious. Nanpire brings up Vampirina's great-great-great ghoulmother's music box, which has been Vampirina's favorite when she is little. She must be ready before getting the box.
Vampirina feels ready, but Nanpire tells her that patience will pay off. Nanpire then opens it, revealing music notes, when the guests arrive. Poppy and Bridget arrive, thanking Vampirina for inviting them. She shows everyone her favorite family's scareloom, the music box. Vampirina tells Poppy and Bridget that the music box will belong to her when she's ready to handle its magic, and opens it. A ballerina with music notes appears from the box, and Vampirina thinks the song is perfect for dancing. She mentions what goblin magic is when she trips on the shelf and breaks the music box.
Demi and Gregoria show up and notice the broken music box. Vampirina just wanted to show Poppy and Bridget, and never meant to break it. Gregoria says they should go tell Nanpire about it, but Vampirina is against the idea. Demi has an idea to fix the music box, but when Vampirina starts it up, the music box is still broken. After Gregoria mentions it, Vampirina knows that scarelooms are charmed with powerful magic, and decides to fix it with a magic spell. Vampirina recites a spell to fix the music box, but when everyone heads downstairs for dinner, something happens to the music box.
Nanpire hears thumping upstairs, and the others notice. The goblin then appears, and Vampirina, Poppy, and Bridget go to take care of it with Demi following. Vampirina decides to get the goblin back to the attic before Nanpire sees her. The goblin continues to make a mess in the hall, and once at the attic, Vampirina tries to reverse the spell to make the goblin small again. She recites a spell to make the goblin small, and that places him in the music box, but he is not dancing at all.
Bridget decides for them to tell Nanpire the truth, but Vampirina relents and decides to make it right. Demi tries a different spell to fix the music box without making the goblin grow, and it works. Moments later, however, the spell causes everyone to dance nonstop. They dance back to the kitchen, where everyone else is dancing, including the plates, cups, and utensils. Nanpire then breaks the spell with a single snap of her fingers, and Vampirina tells her the truth about being careless with something so important to the Hauntleys. She wanted to show her she was ready to have the music box.
Nanpire loves Vampirina no matter what, and accidents happen. She mentions that when her ghoulmother gave the music box to her, she was so excited that she dropped it. Family scarelooms are charmed with powerful magic, and no scratch or crack can undo the magic that holds a family together. After Nanpire mentions that love will always bind families together, she fixes the music box with love before telling the Hauntleys that the most important thing is for families to be honest with each other. Vampirina knows, and since she told the truth, she is truly ready to have the music box. There is no one Nanpire trusts more to take care of the Hauntley family scarelooms than Vampirina. Demi is amazed by this and dances, followed by the Hauntleys.
