"Aw, Shucks" is the first segment of the sixty-second episode of Vampirina. It is the first half of the twelfth episode in the third season. It premiered on October 20, 2020.
Synopsis
Vee, Oxana, Poppy, and Bridget throw a spooktacular garden party!
Plot
Vampirina and Oxana are preparing the garden when Poppy and Bridget see how awesome it is. Vampirina shows them the singing snapdragons and tells Oxana to prepare a garden party and invite everyone to come over to see the snapdragons sing. Oxana goes to scare up the invitations when Gregoria shows up, having heard about the garden party. She mentions that Monstro-Crows are on their way, and Vampirina mentions that they eat up any kind of monster crop. She and her friends try to chase them away when Demi appears from a pumpkin and decides to spook them away. However, it doesn't work.
Vampirina then has an idea about using a scarecrow to chase the Monstro-Crows away. She, Poppy, and Bridget head to Oxana and tell them about the Monstro-Crows while Demi and Gregoria try to keep them away. Oxana places an order on Deliver-eek for the scarecrow, which arrives immediately. There are three boxes, with each containing a different part of the scarecrow. Once it's put together, Oxana wishes it had a brain when Bridget finds one. Vampirina places it on the scarecrow, who introduces himself as Thatch. He shows off some of his skills, impressing the others. Thatch is tasked to scare all of the Monstro-Crows away from the garden, but his specialty is to sing, dance, and make people laugh. Vampirina tells him to be scary for today, and he accepts.
Thatch tells some of the Monstro-Crows to leave the garden alone, but Vampirina tells him he has to scare them away. He does so, but he continues to act silly. Vampirina tells him to try something else, and he tells a joke, but the Monstro-Crows chase him. Thatch decides to give up, as he thinks he's the worst scarecrow. After he mentions flowers, Vampirina knows that the snapdragons' song made the Monstro-Crows fly away to another part of the dragon. If Thatch gives them a bigger song and dance, that'll make them fly far away. Vampirina tells Thatch there is more than one way to be a good scarecrow and he'll be his best if he does what he loves, and he accepts.
Meanwhile, Demi and Gregoria have no luck chasing the Monstro-Crows away. Oxana decides to call off the garden party when Thatch appears and performs the song to scare the Monstro-Crows away. He thanks Vampirina for the help, and she knows that scarecrows can be fun. With the snapdragons saved, Thatch decides to pack himself up. Vampirina, Poppy, and Bridget get him ready for the party. Later, Vampirina introduces Thatch to the audience, and Thatch shows them his tricks. He thanks Vampirina and her friends for teaching him that there is more one way to be great a being a scarecrow. The snapdragons then sing, delighting the audience.
