Putri Ariani

Putri Ariani was a singer and pianist from Season 18 of America's Got Talent. She finished the competition in 4th place.

Background

Putri Ariani is a 17-year-old singer-songwriter from Indonesia who came all the way to America to perform on the “AGT” stage. Born prematurely, Putri was diagnosed with retinopathy of prematurity in infancy, rendering her blind, but her dream is for people to see her vocal talent and songwriting abilities rather than her blindness. She is inspired by international artists, including Stevie Wonder and Andrea Bocelli, and lives by the motto “We are able. We are capable. We are equal,” as her disability doesn’t hold her back from living her dreams. In 2014, Putri won “Indonesia’s Got Talent” at just 8 years old, and in 2022, Putri was invited to sing the Indonesian national anthem for the opening of the Asian Para Games. However, nothing was more important for Putri than coming to “AGT” and performing in front of Simon Cowell.

Audition

Putri Ariani's audition in Episode 1802 consisted of singing her original song "Loneliness" while playing the piano. After the performance, Simon Cowell asked her if she could sing something else, to which she performed Elton John's "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word". Moved by the performance, Simon hit the Golden Buzzer, sending her directly to the Semifinals.

Semifinals

Putri Ariani's Semifinals performance in Episode 1814 consisted of singing U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" while playing the piano. Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell all gave her standing ovations. She received enough votes to enter the top 5 of the night in Episode 1815 instead of Justin Jackson, and the top 3 instead of MOS and Philip Bowen. She advanced to the Final along with Mzansi Youth Choir instead of Warrior Squad.

Finals

Putri Ariani's Finals performance in Episode 1820 consisted of singing Elton John's "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" while playing the piano and backed by a choir. Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell all gave her standing ovations.

Finale

In the Episode 1821 finale, Putri sang Snow Patrol's "Run" with Leona Lewis. She received enough votes to enter the top 5 instead of Chibi Unity. She finished the competition in 4th place, ahead of Ramadhani Brothers, but behind Adrian Stoica and Hurricane, Anna DeGuzman and Murmuration.
