Jimmie Herrod

Jimmie Herrod was a singer from Season 16 of America's Got Talent. He finished in the Bottom 5 of the Top 10. He returned for America's Got Talent: All-Stars where he was eliminated in the Preliminaries.

Background

Jimmie Herrod is a Pacific Northwest-based artist and performer who currently resides in Portland, Oregon. He holds a Bachelors of Music degree in music composition and performance from Cornish, and a Masters of Music in Jazz Studies from Portland State University, where he has subsequently taught jazz voice. Jimmie has also worked in Seattle’s lauded musical theater scene at ArtsWest and the 5th Avenue Theater. Recent performance highlights include being a featured soloist with the Oregon Symphony’s showcase in the 2018 TedX series, working with international acts such as ODESZA, and being a Golden Buzzer recipient for the 2021 season of America’s Got Talent.

Jimmie is also a regular guest vocalist with Pink Martini, touring throughout the US, Canada and Europe. In 2018 Jimmie recorded “Exodus”, his first single with Pink Martini, as well the solo album of original works, Falling in Love and Learning to Love Myself.

Audition

Jimmie Herrod's audition in Episode 1604 consisted of singing "Tomorrow" from the musical Annie. Before the performance, due to his distain of the song, Simon Cowell asked Jimmy if he could sing another song. However, this was the only song Jimmie had prepared. Moved by his performance, Sofia Vergara pressed the Golden Buzzer, sending Jimmie directly to the Quarterfinals.

Quarterfinals

Jimmie Herrod's Quarterfinals performance in Episode 1609 consisted of singing "Pure Imagination" from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell all gave him standing ovations. Jimmie received enough votes to advance to the Semifinals in Episode 1610 along with Peter Rosalita.

Semifinals

Jimmie Herrod's Semifinals performance in Episode 1615 consisted of singing P!nk's "Glitter in the Air". Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell all gave him standing ovations. Jimmie finished in 4th, 5th or 6th place in America's Vote. In the Instant Save, he received more online votes than Michael Winslow and World Taekwondo Demonstration Team, advancing to the Finals in Episode 1616.

Finals

Jimmie Herrod's Finals performance in Episode 1619 consisted of singing Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World". Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell all gave him standing ovations.

Finale

For the finale in Episode 1620, Jimmie Herrod sang "Defying Gravity" with Idina Menzel and Northwell Health Nurse Choir. He did not receive enough votes to enter the Top 5, eliminating him from the competition instead of Léa Kyle.

All-Stars Preliminary

Jimmie Herrod's Preliminary performance in Episode AS01 consisted of singing Joji's "Glimpse of Us". Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell all gave him standing ovations. He did not receive enough votes from the Superfans to enter the Top 3 of the night, eliminating him from the competition.
