Background
Lily Meola was born in Maui, but currently resides in California. She gained recognition at the age of 20 when she did a duet with Willie Nelson.
Audition
Lily Meola's audition in Episode 1705 consisted of singing her original song "Daydream" which was dedicated to her mother who passed away in June 2020. Moved by her performance, Heidi Klum pressed the Golden Buzzer, sending Lily directly to the Semifinals.
Semifinals
Lily Meola's Semifinals performance in Episode 1716 consisted of singing her original song "Butterfly". Heidi Klum gave her a standing ovation. She received enough votes to enter the Top 5 of the night in Episode 1717 instead of Jannick Holste, and the Top 3 instead of Merissa Beddows and Jack Williams. She finished in 3rd place behind Metaphysic and Mike E. Winfield, eliminating her from the competition.
Wild Card
In Episode 1719, she was nominated by Heidi Klum for the Instant Save Wild Card vote, but did not receive enough votes to return as the 11th finalist.
Trivia
- Lily is the only act in the Season 17 live shows to be eliminated despite performing last.
- Lily is the first eliminated act to perform last in a live show episode since Mike Yung.
- Lily is the first Golden Buzzer to appear as a Wild Card candidate. She was followed by Gabriel Henrique and Chioma & The Atlanta Drum Academy in Season 18. However, just like Lily, neither act was able to fill the vacancy of the 11th finalist slot.
- Season 19 act Sky Elements used Lily's song "Butterfly" for their Semifinal performance.
