Roberto "Beto" García is a character available for the Libertad in XDefiant.
Background
During unrest in the nation of Yara, Beto's family fled the island to several guerilla enclaves across Latin America. As Beto grew up around these guerilla forces, he signed up to become a mercenary at a young age, returning to Yara looking for work. Knowing the revolutionaries fighting against the ruling Castillo regime would not be able to pay much of a salary, Beto expected to be offered a palapa hut on the beach and free drinks at the bar for "consulting" services.
Instead, the revolutionaries shunned Beto, preferring to instead solve their own problems. Beto acquired work on the fringes of the revolutionaries to make ends meet. One night, Beto was drinking with old timers in a cantina to obtain information. A Castillo regime official tracked Beto down and offered him a contract to become a bodyguard for Castillo, but Beto refused the offer. Castillo's forces then stormed the cantina, gunning down the people Beto was drinking with prior. Beto escaped the gunfire, and decided to offer his mercenary services for free to Libertad and support the revolution.
