Overview
An small improvement over the BTR-70, the BTR-80 has more side armor, and a higher accuracy for the HMG, as well as minor range and speed improvements.
History
BTR-80 was based on the BTR-70 APC replacing the two gasoline engine with a diesel engine along with structural redesign of the firing ports, side doors and turret. These vehicles replaced BTR-70 and BTR-60 in Soviet service starting in 1985.
The Motor Rifle Division has two regiments of Motor Rifle Regiments mounted in BTR series vehicles.
