Grass Isle

Description

Grass Isle is a grassy island map. It has been remade multiple times since its addition to the game.

Design & Path

Grass Isle is a small grassy island in the middle of the ocean. The terrain of this island is mountainous, though there are flat grassy plains on the island. Various rocks and trees can be found on the island. A bridge crosses over a water source.
The brown path begins and ends at two caves at both ends of the island. The path crosses a wooden bridge across the water.

The third version of Grass Isle was a large island in the middle of the ocean. Despite this, a river flows through the middle of the island, with the source being an artificial pipeline at the top of a waterfall. When the river reached the sea, it was split in two by a small grass island. The terrain of the island was mountainous, though there were flat grassy plains on the island. Various rocks and trees could be found on the island. Some sand could also be seen and a smaller rock island could be seen in the middle of the ocean.
The brown stone path began and ended at two caves at both ends of the island. The path crossed a cobblestone bridge over the river.

The second version of Grass Isle is identical to the current version, except terrain water surrounded the map, instead of baseplate water.

The first version of Grass Isle took place on a low lying grassy island in the middle of the ocean. There were few objects of note. There were three smaller chunks of rocks lower than the main terrain. Four trees and a grass mound could be seen. Some broken bits of rock by the caves could also be seen.
The black slate path began and ended at two caves. The path cutback on itself many times as well as taking some long straights.

Strategy

  • Most ground towers are suited for this map, due to the path's nature on cutting back on itself quite a few times.
    • However, be aware of the limited space available for towers.
    • Later on during the game, sell unnecessary towers to make space for essential ones.
  • If you need to bring Rangers, make sure to sell any Snipers that may occupy the mound and cliff to make space for Rangers.
  • The DJ Booth can massively benefit towers, as the map itself is quite small.
    • A long-range tower, like the Ranger, will be able to reach the entire map with a well placed DJ Booth.
  • As the map is quite short, you may want to use the Electroshocker, Sledger or Toxic Gunner to slow down enemies.

Trivia

  • This first version of the map was once used as the example for the Tower Defense Simulator Map Making Kit.
  • Grass Isle is used as the default background for player profiles, though an outdated version of it is used.
  • On the third version of the map, there is a humanoid figure wielding a scythe.
    • This humanoid has a similar skin tone and clothing as the Slasher.
  • On 7th of March 2022, this alongside Wrecked Battlefield, Crystal Cave and Sacred Mountains were accidentally left as the only survival maps in the game. It alongside Crystal Cave were the only playable survival maps.
    • This was later fixed on the same day.
