The TONE CHROMA series, is a series of Synthesizer V Studio 2 vocals created and distributed by the company Eclipsed Sounds, LLC. Currently there are two vocals under this title: HXVOC and GALENAIA, with the possibility of further developments at a later point. The series acts as Eclipsed Sounds second or "PHASE 2" vocal series developed with the motto "Vocals Beyond Fiction".[1]
Concept
The series focuses on providing vocals based on "specific genre styles of singing." The first two vocals announced to be a part of the series based on two of potentially seven[2] different genres of music were HXVOC, a masculine English-capable voice database specializing in rock and metal music, and GALENAIA, a feminine Spanish-capable voice database specializing in classical opera. Each vocalist carries a respective codename, such as "R-01" and "V-01", coinciding with a color, red and violet for example, a title such as "The Seeker" and "The Muse", and a wavelength such as 710 nm and 400 nm according to lightwave physics; these wavelengths, along with the codenames, are neatly incorporated into each respective vocalists' logos.

Despite its seemingly colorful nature and name, the background of the series stems from a grey, bleak, monotone, and industrial lunar and sci-fi-themed setting, with each character being assigned a respective building (01, 02, and 03, for example) for currently unknown reasons. Despite having a third building, only two vocalists are currently known of.
History
On November 24, 2023, Eclipsed Sounds launched a Spanish implementation survey for users of SAROS to submit feedback regarding pronunciation and desired accents.[3] The feedback would be used to improve Spanish synthesis before additional Spanish vocals were added to Synthesizer V Studio, including a native Spanish vocal planned by ES that was said to be announced later in 2024.[4]
On March 22, 2024, Eclipsed Sounds redesigned its website. A new "upcoming genre-focused vocal line" provisionally dubbed "Eclipsed Sounds Phase 2" was added to the bottom of the homepage; while the Starry Court (SOLARIA, ASTERIAN, SAROS, and a then-unnamed Alto vocal that months later would adopt the name NYL) was described as a "lineup of genre-flexible vocalists", Phase 2 was said to "provide voices designed to suit single genres, with a lineup based on our current backlog of user requests", with no further information about any specific vocal to be grouped there.[5]
On January 19, 2025, Eclipsed Sounds published a video on YouTube announcing that Phase 2 would be named "TONE CHROMA", with more information to be provided later through a new webpage that was opened for it.[6] This new webpage, apart from embedding the YouTube video above, invited viewers to visit this year's NAMM Show, whose listing for Eclipsed Sounds stated that the company would reveal new vocal products (very likely at least a prototype of at least one of the upcoming TONE CHROMA voice databases) alongside their existing ones.[7] The YouTube video briefly highlighted seven colors during seven separate timestamps: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, and magenta. On January 21, a teaser demo titled "Phase 2 - TONE CHROMA : R-01" was published by Eclipsed Sounds on YouTube, featuring a red-themed masculine vocal with known only by the codename "R-01", singing a gritty rock song and ending it with a scream typical of heavy metal;[8] a second demonstration titled "Phase 2 - TONE CHROMA : V-01" was published immediately after, featuring a violet-themed feminine vocal singing classical opera in Spanish.[9] On January 23, both vocalists names were revealed to be "HXVOC" and "GALENAIA" along with their red- and violet-colored silhouettes (respectively) on silent teaser videos inviting people to listen to their respective voices during NAMM 2025.[10][11]
As for whether the voice databases would release for Synthesizer V Studio or exclusively for the upcoming Synthesizer V Studio 2 (also being showcased during NAMM 2025), Joey, a "video essayist, vocal synthesis enthusiast, singer & lyricist"[12] who had hands-on experience with testing the newer in-development version of Dreamtonics Co., Ltd.'s singing-synthesis software at the event, could neither confirm nor deny, only limiting themself to stating that both HXVOC and GALENAIA were tested on the newer SVS2 engine[13][14] and that HXVOC had been in development for several years.[15] Joey also added that HXVOC had an assortment of unnamed vocal modes, not all of which they had yet listened to;[16] he was also said to sound "incredibly guttural" in spite of no apparent presence of a "growl parameter" on SVS2 (similar to the one introduced on VOCALOID4).[17] Joey also added that GALENAIA also had an assortment of unnamed vocal modes;[18] they also confirmed that GALENAIA was a voice database dedicated for the Spanish language and that she "sounded wonderful" and that at the demo stands, she "had absolutely no discernible background noise or static".[19] Humorously, he noted that he had mentioned various reactions to the initial demonstration of GALENAIA to the Eclipsed Sounds team such as "Prima? Is that you?", a reference to the VOCALOID2 voicebank Prima (another voice designed to sing opera) and was "met with a disappointed head shake".[20]
