Kick boost

The kick boost[note 1] is a move that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a highly powerful kick delivered to a Movable Crate.

Description

When using the kick boost, the user delivers a powerful, charged strike to a Movable Crate with both his legs, causing the crate to slide a small far distance along the ground at high speed. This is useful for quickly pushing a Movable Crate or taking out enemies caught in the Moveable Crate's path.

This move first appeared in the Wii version of Sonic Colors, and later its remaster Sonic Colors: Ultimate, where it is used by Sonic the Hedgehog, the Virtual Hedgehogs and the Mii (Wii version only). When using the kick boost, the user spins around in midair, similar to the Spin Attack, to build up momentum before striking the Movable Crate. To use the kick boost in gameplay, the player must press and hold down the following buttons and then release:

Wii Xbox One PS4 Switch PC
Wii Remote
(sideways)
Wii Remote
& Nunchunk
Classic

GameCube

1 B B B Circle

It should be noted that in these games, Super Sonic cannot use the move. Instead, the Movable Crate will move the instant he touches it.

Sonic Generations

In the console/PC version Sonic Generations, the kick boost is used exclusively by Modern Sonic and Modern Super Sonic. When using the kick boost, Sonic Boosts into, the Movable Crate, channeling his speed and kicking the crate to deliver the strike rather than charging it up on one spot. To use the kick boost in gameplay, the player has to press /Square. This move is mostly used in the 2.5D sections of the levels as the Movable Crates are mostly only present in these areas, with the exception being the Endless Boost Challenge Act.
