Ramos is a Gym Leader that appears in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. He gives the player character the Plant Badge after they defeat him.
Appearance
Ramos is an old, lanky man with pale skin, a hunchback, and perpetually closed eyes. Fittingly for his advanced age, he is also bald and has very little hair on his head, save for his eyebrows and his spiky white beard. For clothing, Ramos wears a rolled-up long-sleeved green shirt with black buttons and brown suspenders, gray work pants with a brown belt and a holster, and green boots with brown soles. To complete his outfit, he also wears an orange scarf, a green cap, and thick green gardening gloves. Additionally, he is always seen with some gardening scissors, keeping them close by.
Personality
Despite his age, Ramos is active and likes to tease people (though he can be calm and soothing when it's needed). However, his advanced age gives him vast intelligence and experience, which he often uses to lecture people and give them advice. Additionally, he also speaks with a very thick accent, which is represented by his dialogue referring to people as "yeh" and "yer."
Etymology
The name Ramos comes from ramus (Latin for "branch") and "moss".
His Japanese name, Fukuji, comes from 福寿草 (fukujusō, referring to the pheasant's-eye flower) and 福寿 (fukuju, long life and happiness).

- At first glance, one would assume Ramos is holding a cane modeled after the Plant Badge (due to his age); however, what he's actually holding is hedge trimmers.
