Lunge

Lunge is a skill introduced in Fire Emblem Fates.

History in the Series

In Fire Emblem Fates, it is learned by Wyvern Riders at Level 10.

In Fire Emblem Heroes, Lunge appears as a type B passive skill.

In Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia and Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Lunge is a Combat Art. In Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, it is a weapon skill of Ilwoon.

Overview

When activated by the user, the user and enemy unit will swap places after the attack concludes, provided that the user survived the battle.

There are a few exceptions with Lunge:

  • It cannot be used if the target is swapped into an invalid tile
  • It cannot be used against units with no movement. No movement units are units with "-" in their movement; this should not be confused for those with "0", which are units that have been frozen.

On the DLC map Boo Camp in Fire Emblem Fates, this skill can be abused. There are "mist" tiles on this map, which the player cannot pass, but the Golden Faceless on the map can. They will automatically attempt to reach the sigil at the top of the map to flee, the player cannot follow them due to the mist tiles surrounding the sigil tile. However, the mist tiles don't go all the way to the sigil, meaning if a unit uses Lunge on a Golden Faceless on the small 4-tile space between the sigil and the mist tiles, they'll swap places with the Faceless and bypass the mist tiles. They can then stand on the sigil on their next turn, thus preventing the Faceless from fleeing the map.
