Xenolith

Xenolith (ゼノリス Zenorisu?) is a machine, master of the Magimech Arts and the original founder of the Ether Gear, Satan Gravity.[1] He was also Ziggy's mentor [2] and a former member of the Heavenly Knights of the Dancing Sakura when he was previously human.[3] In Universe 0, he was mistakenly believed to be part of the Oración Seis Galáctica[4] but in reality he had his powers stolen by Müller, who allied himself with the Edens One and destroyed Foresta.[5]

Appearance

Xenolith is a machine of short stature with a small, diamond-shaped emblem on its forehead. He wears a hooded cloak with a scarf that has the symbol of the Magimech Arts school on the back, a gi attire, dark-colored knee-length pants, and a pair of small shoes.[6][7][8]

Xenolith's human appearance in a silhouette appears as a tall imposing man with wild spiky hair and a goatee.[3]

Personality

Xenolith is a bit narcissistic, admiring his previous appearance to the point of claiming that his wild image was his selling point and that he was a ladies' man.[3]

However, when it comes to training and teaching to improve the Ether Gears’ usage for upcoming battles, Xenolith can be both strict and serious.[9][10][11]

Synopsis

Foresta arc

Xenolith is mentioned by Hermit who analyzed the Edens Zero's log involving Foresta that is revealed to be his homeworld and found his name a curious term while bluntly telling an excited Shiki who wants to make friends with him that Xenolith died a thousand years ago.[1]

Xenolith Gravity Center Anime

Xenolith appears before a heavily injured Shiki and tells him to unleash his gravity. He explains that gravity is the weight of the heart and that Shiki's heart has not yet reached the abyss.[6] He uses his Satan Gravity to make the boy's pain "lighter", but unable to heal them. He states that true gravity transcends even concepts as it is the weight of the heart where it sometimes allows him to make others' hearts fall inside him or sometimes attract a young woman from the future for its power is that great. He adds that its force is infinite and that it makes it powerful, as well as dangerous. Sensing the conflict escalating on Foresta, Xenolith comments that the other machines are making a racket and sees it for himself.[12] Using Magimech Attack: Gravity Center on a massive scale, Xenolith affects the Verdant Planet and pulls all caught by it to the ground. Removing his hood, he explains to an astonished Shiki that he stopped everyone in Foresta from moving for a while before revealing that he is the founder of the Magimech Arts and was Ziggy's mentor.[13]

After the reveal, Xenolith expects a bigger reaction from Shiki but tells him to tone down his shock after the boy complies. The short machine explains that he did train Ziggy, commenting that the Demon King was a natural for mastering every move the very day he taught him as if he had known the techniques all along. He confirms to a nervous Shiki that he did die, or rather his human body did. He bemusedly comments on Shiki's other reaction at him being a ghost and explains that he was a human who lived in the Dark Ages, as one of the Heavenly Knights of the Dancing Sakura, and claims that his selling point was his wild image as a human, and he was popular with the ladies back then. Assuming a crane stance, Xenolith tells Shiki that for reasons, he now lives on in the mechanical body that the young man sees before him. The short machine asks Shiki if Ziggy is the one who taught him how to use his Satan Gravity which the young man confirms. Xenolith is annoyed that Ziggy is teaching his techniques all over the cosmoses without regard, and notes that he should have had it patented. Changing the topic, he informs Shiki that Ziggy has fallen to "the dark gravity", while using his Ether Gear to grab a fruit from the tree to his hand. Taking a bite on the fruit, Xenolith in a serious tone hopes that the young man will not fall to the dark side like Ziggy did.[14]

When the Doomsday System of Foresta is activated, Xenolith notes this is not good that they managed to access the planet's defense mechanism. As smoke emanates from his robot body, he tells Shiki that there is no time to explain, and yells at him to get off the Verdant Planet before falling on the ground as he deactivates, confusing the young man. Amidst the destructive laser pillars emerging underneath the Verdant Planet, Xenolith is carried by Shiki who is heading back to the Edens Zero with his friends.[15] His deactivated body is still carried as they dodge the beams exploding from the planet, Homura questions who the bot is and Shiki has trouble explaining about him before they are faced by more drones to fight off.[16] Eventually stopping as the planet's Doomsday System is terminated.[17]

In the Meeting Room of the Edens Zero, Xenolith's body is placed on the back of the wall where Hermit is shocked to learn who he is from Shiki but states that he can't possibly still be alive even though Shiki pointed out that he is a robot now, believing him to be an impostor using the man's name. Pino scans that she can't sense Ether readings from his robot body. Suddenly, Xenolith declares that download is complete to the Crew of Edens and reactivates to get up with a crane stance, proclaiming that he is back. Looking around, the short machine wonders where he is and deduces that they have survived the Doomsday System, praising Shiki. Xenolith takes notice of Rebecca and Homura, calling them fresh little fillies. He explains to the crew that he was in danger of being infected by the virus that affected the machines despite his greatness and temporarily transferred all of his personality data into cloud storage. When a skeptical Hermit asks of his identity, Xenolith wonders if Shiki told her but brushes it off. Pointing his finger at Shiki, Xenolith explains the truth is that he made contact because he has a favor to ask of the Demon King's grandson. Xenolith states to Shiki that this is something only he can do.[18]

Xenolith explains to the Crew of Edens that there is a reason that Ziggy specifically targeted Foresta. He states to Happy that infecting the robots of the Verdant Planet is a part of it but suspects that the Demon King was really after him. Xenolith states that Ziggy fears him and corrects Shiki that he is an old run-down machine now and could not hold a candle to Ziggy in his current state. He reveals that Ziggy is truly afraid of his encounter with Shiki, fearing that he would make his grandson stronger. Clenching his fist, Xenolith declares that he will grant Shiki his power and tells him to find Ziggy and defeat him.[19]

In the VR Training Facility, Xenolith is running on the wall with Shiki and easily keeps up with the young man as he eggs him on to go faster than that. He remarks that at any rate, he is surprised to see such an impressive facility on the Edens Zero. The short machine explains that 7 days is all the time he has left and will use them to get Shiki and his friends into shape. After Witch explains that they can adjust the VR space's time setting for their bodies to interpret it as 35 days, an impressed Xenolith remarks that with that much time, they should get somewhat better. Explaining to Happy and Pino, he reveals that his scheduled maintenance is within 7 days, and in this time, the maintenance is going to last a little longer so he will train them for 7 days. Xenolith comments that besides, depending on what Ziggy is plotting, they may not even have that long. Brushing it off, he tells Shiki to run and declares that everything starts with basic physical fitness.[20] Xenolith tells everyone to stop their conversation and keep running, stating that when the running is done, he will train them to overcome the Ether deficit caused by physical restraints. He tells Homura that being able to use Ether Gear even when bound takes practice and asks everyone if they are ready for this. The short machine declares that this training will make a maiden blush, revealing bondage training as he tied Shiki and his friends up in balls of ropes, hanging them up in the air. When Weisz complains that he expected something sexier, Xenolith remarks that the young man is so hopless and mischievously places him in a compromising position much to Weisz' dismay. Lifting a block from the floor with his gravity, he throws it at a bound Shiki and hits him in the face. Lifting more blocks to hit Rebecca and Homura in the face, Xenolith tells them to use their Ether Gear to dodge it. When Jinn easily removes the restraints with his cybernetic rocket arms, he calls it cheating. Xenolith hits Kleene in the face with a block, upsetting Jinn. Suddenly, the short machine appears to be taken over by Ziggy, shocking the Crew of Edens.[21]

However, it turns out that Xenolith tricked Shiki by pretending to be Ziggy with the virtual reality simulator, and is impressed by the young man being able to activate his Ether Gear and escape from his restraints after easily blocking Shiki's gravity punch. The short machine explains to Shiki that in the virtual reality simulator, he can show him any reality he likes as he demonstrates by turning his head into Ziggy, a Nikora, and Couchpo. Xenolith apologizes to Shiki who does not find it funny for psyching him up with the holograms. He internally notes that he can hardly believe it after seeing Shiki would overcome those restraints so quickly. The short machine confirms to himself that the young man is indeed a worthy heir to Ziggy's power. Xenolith contemplates that he can trust Shiki with Magimech's Ultimate Secret Technique: Black Sky. Back to business, he resumes the training and throws more blocks at the bound members of the crew with his gravity. After returning to the real world, Xenolith informs an exhausted Weisz and Homura that he will begin their real training tomorrow. When Sister points out that they should go look for the Relic on Foresta, the short machine asks if it's from Mother. After Witch tells him that they came to Foresta in search of clues to help them find Mother, Xenolith brandishes a Robo Cola bottlecap and states that he can give the Crew of Edens as many as they want. He reveals to everyone that the bottlecap he holds is a Relic which Happy notes that Mother's Ether within the Aquatic Adaptation Lacrima is reacting to it as a genuine article, and that they can find these things all over the place on the Verdant Planet. Xenolith remarks that the name of Relic makes them sound big and fancy but in reality, they are simple items that were on Mother such as the candelabra and the bottlecap. When Rebecca is about to leave, he calls out to her as the "girl captivated by gravity" and bluntly tells the young woman that her Ether powers are weak. Xenolith informs Rebecca with a smirk that she will require more intensive training than the others. Watching her leave, he internally remarks that Rebecca's power is weak but it is the most special; enough to change the world.[22]

Supervising the crew's training within the VR Training Facility, Xenolith asks Weisz if he ever tried aiming the gun after seeing his erratic shots on the target dummies. He points out that Weisz did not control the recoil and pulled the trigger too hard, stating that the young man will never become a marksman that way. Turning to Homura, the short machine tells her to keep her pivot foot in place which the young woman complies. A sweatdropping Xenolith remarks that Rebecca still can't activate her Ether Gear while still being bound in a ball of rope. He blocks Shiki's strike with his right arm and compliments the Demon King's grandson for improving his movement quite a bit. Then the short machine throws down Shiki on the floor easily, telling that he's far too light. Xenolith tells Shiki that the gravity is the weight of the heart and that if his heart is stronger, gravity gets stronger. However, Xenolith warns the young man that he will also need inner tranquility to endure that weight. In other words, the short machine tells him that Shiki must strike a balance between strength and tranquility of the heart or his gravity will fall into darkness, advising the young man to never forget.[23]

A week later, Xenolith informs Shiki and his crew that he is not coming with them and is practically a ghost. He also states that he is going to look after Aruna. Shortly after being confused from Aruna affectionately calling him "Xenny", he notes that Miimi's friend is also a helper robot. Xenolith remarks that he taught the Crew of Edens few things but they are still a bunch of rookies who have much to learn. He offers them to come and see him anytime and will train them again if they want. When Witch asks him about how he met Ziggy, Xenolith tells them that it would have been 100 years ago and does not remember it. The short machine comments that the last time he saw the Demon King was 15 years ago as Ziggy told him that he was on a quest to find Mother. While complimenting the Four Shining Stars on their beauty, he adds that Ziggy was alone. Xenolith and Aruna watches the Edens Zero depart from Foresta, bidding them goodbye.[24]

Edens Zero Reunion arc

On Foresta, "Xenolith" led the robot uprising, forcing Aruna and the human residents to evacuate. He then destroyed the Verdant Planet by crushing it with Satan Gravity.[25][26]

Powers and Abilities

Xenolith's stolen power allowed Müller to become a member of the Oración Seis Galáctica, a group that is stated to be the cosmos's strongest warriors, being renowned for crushing entire planets.[27][4][28] According to Pino, they are stronger than the previous Universe's Galáctica members.[29]

Satan Gravity (サタングラビティ Satan Gurabiti): As its founder, Xenolith possesses this type of Ether Gear which gives him the ability to alter and change his or other's gravity when he was alive at the time a thousand years ago.[1] He is also shown to perform other feats such as making Shiki's pain lighter or unleash a massive force of gravity on a planet with ease. According to Xenolith, true gravity transcends even the concept of gravity itself and the weight of the heart will make others fall toward him.[7] However, Xenolith reveals that he could not hold a candle to Ziggy in his current state.[30] In Universe 0, he is powerful enough to be called as the "King of Gravity"[31] as demonstrated by Müller crushing Foresta into oblivion with his stolen power.[26]
