On August 1, 2018, Doja took to Instagram Live to make this song and preview her unreleased song "REAL", however no footage of her making the song currently exists. On the same day, Doja posted a snippet of the song to her Instagram account, captioned: “DOCTOR” coming soon...💉. The post has since been deleted. On August 26, 2018, Doja played a minute of the song during Instagram Live. On November 13, 2018, she made tweets about how she wants to release the song, eventually doing so that same day.
