"Candy" is a song by Doja Cat. It appears as the eighth track on her debut studio album, Amala, released on March 30, 2018. The song was also released as the album's second single on March 23, 2018. It was previously on Doja's SoundCloud account on September 8, 2016, before shortly getting taken down. It featured a different instrumental and other minor differences.
The song became a semi-novelty on TikTok in December 2019 and eventually entered and peaked at #86 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Background
On September 8, 2016, Doja Cat uploaded earlier versions of this song and "Casual" to her SoundCloud account, both would later appear on Amala. "Casual" still available today, "Candy" was later taken down. The song had a different instrumental, which was produced by KAYTRANADA and was already used in a different song by another artist ("Crib Tax" by rapper Wiki, released in December 2015). It's unknown how Doja got the instrumental, but it was likely changed for Amala due to it already being used for "Crib Tax".
Around 2017 - 2018, Doja Cat shared an early tracklist of Amala before its release. The tracklist includes some cut tracks and "Candy" serving as the first track, next to it written "Review + get ready for mix". There was also a heart beside it, indicating one of Doja's favourites.
Doja teased the songs release as a single by changing her X/Twitter profile to the promotional photoshoot and tweeting about the song.
