Ryan (Japanese: 太田ケンタロウ Ōta Kentarō) is a student from Hailey Anne's classroom, class 5-1.
Appearance
Ryan is a large, husky boy with black hair in a mini-afro. He wears a teal jacket with red trim over a white designed shirt. He wears black jeans and his shoes are gold-yellow. He has notably large sclera that extend up to his hairline.
Personality
He is an anime/merchandise geek like Hailey Anne, has a passion for robots, and is the author of various novels.
Relationships
Hailey and Kaitlyn
Unbeknownst to both of them, Ryan is the identity of "Mr Yarn", the author of a web novel both of them actively follow.
History
Yokai Watch 3
In the request "The Melancholy of Mr. Yarn", it is revealed that he is Mr. Yarn, the author of a web novel that Hailey and Kaitlyn follow. Unfortunately, he hasn't updated it in a while due to a severe writer's block. Hailey decides to spark some inspiration in him, first by taking him to Excellent Tower, then getting him a Rainbow Soft Serve, and finally allowing Tomorrow Gal to inspirit him. While Tomorrow Gal gets close, it ultimately fails to inspire him. Just as Hailey is about to give up, however, the words "give up" spark an idea in Ryan, allowing him to write the next part of the novel. He thanks Hailey for the help and runs off to do so.
In the Quest "Those Seeking the Ultimate Upgrade", Ryan is one of the four "robot geeks" Hailey assembles in order to improve Robonyan 28 into Ultimate Robonyan.
Trivia
- He is in the library sections along with Ashley, as revealed in episode 139.
- He has an alias for his name called Mr. Yarn, which is a play on his own name. Under this name he wrote an online novel that Hailey Anne and Kaitlyn actively follow.
