The Lawless

The Lawless ( () (ほう) (もの) Muhoumono?) is an alliance of human bandits and gangs, and one of the thirteen natural enemies featured in Versus, originating from Land of the Lawless.

Overview

The Lawless roam the surface doing what they please.[1] Despite being human, they are deprived of morals and have no qualms raiding bases of other humans. Anyone not belonging to any of their gangs is subject to torture for information and complete confiscation of all valuable items. They equip themselves with leftovers weapons after the war and whatever they steal from other worlds.

The Seven Evils

The Lawless consists of seven different organizations called The Seven Evils ( (しち) (あく) Shichiaku?).[2] The only known organization in the Lawless so far is Kyokai.

Overall Strength

Currently, not much is known about the Lawless's true strength, but it's assumed they all are regular humans with no special abilities or magic. On the other hand, like the other natural enemies, they have driven the other humans of Land of the Lawless to near extinction. Their biggest strength seems to be their willingness to steal from others in particular, lack of moral in general and leadership that can quickly assess the situation.

Titan Weapons

The Titan Weapons are a tactic utilized by Kyokai, taking advantage of the technology of other worlds. Using electrodes from The Mecha Ordinance that were intended to take over a human's brain and turn them into puppets, the Lawless convert captured Titans into weapons of war that they can control. Kyokai had three Titan Weapons in operation, but all three were consumed by Parasites.

History

Background

At some point in the past, the Lawless seized control of the Land of the Lawless and began terrorizing humanity.

Demons vs Aliens Arc

The Lawless are mentioned by Old Man Gio to be very cruel when the humans try to figure out where to teleport to.[3]

When Daikokuzan annihilates a colossal warship belonging to the Madalans, resulting in a tremendous explosion, the sight is witnessed by members of the Lawless in their own territory.[4]

Demon Lord Arc

When Zaybi is attacked by the fully grown parasites, the Lawless shoot it with their weapons and take it down while yelling triumphantly.[5] As the humans wonder about the possibly salvageable nature of them, Gore orders his group to carry Zaybi back to the base to torture him for magic knowledge. When the humans decide to retrieve Zaybi and attack them, Gore moves back to the base and leads a counterattack shortly after, claiming to steal any valuable toys humans might have. However, they get hit with a smoke field, which hinders their visibility and movement. When the smoke clears, they are met with the threat of total annihilation from Glasp should they decide to continue. However, Gore sees through the ploy, calls the lack of resources and the Lawless resume their attack. Suddenly, a knight army led by Masayoshi with presumably 3000 soldiers appear, which is actually just Decoration Magic. Baffled by this sudden development, Gore orders the Lawless to retreat after failing to obtain any information.[6]

Current Arc

Kyokai's senior members, Grig and Gisangi, along with their junior member Gaut and other underlings, launch an attack on the newest headquarters of humanity's combined forces using the titans under their control. Their assault halts when Zaybi arrives and accompanies them to meet their leader, Rinri.[7] After negotiations break down, Rinri orders the others to deal with the mage. However, a baby Tyrant Bear is lured into their base, causing chaos and killing several of the Lawless. Grig takes control of one of the titans and crushes the bear. Despite this, they soon find themselves face-to-face with the mother Tyrant Bear.[8]

Grig and a few other Kyokai members take control of the three titan weapons they possess, but even with their efforts, they and several others still struggle against the massive beast.

Meanwhile, Rinri heads to Kyokai's underground prison to collect 50 human souls using his Soul Container, Ca-G-66. He then returns outside to confront the Tyrant Bear, releasing the container and firing it at the beast, killing it instantly.

Noticing Zaybi, Rinri orders his men to break the mage's arms and legs. However, before they can act, a parasite takes control of the fallen Tyrant Bear, turning it into a new threat. The creature attacks Rinri, Gore, and their underlings. While Rinri and Gore manage to evade its tendrils, many of their men are absorbed into the monstrous Wild Beast Wurm. Grig watches in horror as Gaut is also consumed by the creature.[9]

Rinri orders his men to fight the parasite, threatening those who attempt to flee with being turned into Soul Container bullets. Despite their efforts, the parasite proves too strong, killing many of the Lawless. Rinri attempts to wound it with his Soul Container weapon, but the creature regenerates and attacks. Gore intervenes to protect Rinri but is then thrown aside. Zaybi and his allies arrive to help, but this prompts the parasite to release several of its wurms along with its fluids, successfully striking Rinri.

The creature then sprouts a massive head resembling Gaut's, using his brain as a base to gain intelligence. Grig, recognizing Gaut, furiously confronts the parasite but is brutally killed. Panic spreads as more of the Lawless and some members of humanity's combined forces are consumed, causing the parasite to evolve into a towering Super Wurm. Injured and desperate, the remaining Lawless kneel in prayer, unintentionally drawing God's attention to the monstrous creature.[10]
