Tyrant Bear

A Tyrant Bear (ボウクングマ, Bōkunguma^?) is one of the many creatures composing the natural enemy, Nature, originating from Gaia's Wrath.

Appearance

Tyrant Bears are vastly enlarged versions of bears. Infant Tyrant Bears appear identical to American Brown Bears, causing the people of The Disastrous Metropolis to mistakingly identify the baby Tyrant Bear as a regular bear. Adult Tyrant Bears are far bigger, towering over several-story buildings and dwarfing normal Titans in size. They are very muscular and lack hair over their chest region.

Characteristics

Tyrant Bears appear to behave the same as regular bears. Just like typical bears, they bury the food they find to consume at a later time. They will not instinctively attack humans they encounter. However, should someone steal their prey, they will become violent and attack whoever they see. Furthermore, they also care for their young, as an adult Tyrant Bear went looking for her cub and set her sights on the humans that killed the baby Tyrant Bear. So far, Tyrant Bears have been shown to reside in the Crimson Forest, and it is unclear if they're populous in the other forests of Gaia's Wrath.

History

Background

At some point in the past, Nature began overtaking the world of Gaia's Wrath. Tyrant Bears were one of the species that spread across the world and forced humans to flee their habitat.

Current Arc

As the human alliance begins to make their new base in the Land of the Lawless, an infant Tyrant Bear is seen gathering the carcass of an enlarged mouse to bury somewhere nearby. The citizens of The Disastrous Metropolis notice the bear and misidentify it as a brown bear from their world.^[1]

When Zaybi goes to negotiate with Rinri, Masayoshi believes that they should take precautions to ensure Zaybi can escape if negotiations go south. He has Samone get the mouse carcass the baby Tyrant Bear buried and throw it into the Lawless base. The bear enters the base, swiping at one of the Lawless as it roars in anger over having its food stolen. The cub continues to rampage as the Lawless open fire on it. As this happens, one of the humans from Gaia's Wrath arrives, warning Masayoshi that the bear they lured into the base was not a brown bear.^[2]

One of the Lawless humans uses the controlled Titan to crush the baby Tyrant Bear to death. As this happens, they hear the sound of a heavy creature approaching. The mother Tyrant Bear arrives, towering over all the humans present as it witnesses its dead cub.^[2]

The Tyrant Bear rampages as the Lawless Humans attempt to kill it. The bear swipes it claw at Zaybi and some other Lawless humans, but one of the Titans blocks its paw using its transformed state. Despite transforming, the titan is still unable to overpower the Tyrant Bear. It proceeds to kill all three Titans before roaring in defiance. Rinri soon arrives on the battlefield and releases a Soul Container CA-G-66 powered by the souls of 50 humans. Rinri fires the bullet, tearing through the creature's chest and killing it.^[3]

However, the Tyrant Bear's body is quickly taken over by a parasite, becoming a Wild Beast Wurm, and it proceeds to absorb the Titans and other Lawless humans into its body to strengthen itself.^[4]

Abilities

As a species of Nature, Tyrant Bears are very strong. An infant Tyrant Bear is strong enough to easily kill regular humans with a single swipe and endure multiple rounds of gunfire. Adult Tyrant Bears are naturally far larger and stronger, causing the humans of Gaia's Wrath to fear them. An adult Tyrant Bear was strong enough to kill three Titans, even when they were in their transformed state. It could only be killed by using a soul container firing a bullet powered by 50 human souls.
