Kyokai

Kyokai (キョウカイ Kyoukai?) is one of the seven Lawless organizations.

Overview

Kyokai is known as a cruel and ruthless group that steals anything and everything they find useful. They do not hesitate to kill and have no qualms about using torture to obtain what they need, showing no mercy to anyone. They operate with extreme caution, avoiding risky moves when their gathered information is still incomplete. However, once they are certain they have all the intelligence they need, they strike without hesitation.

They also appear to lure some of their victims to their base by spreading a rumor that priests are offering refuge in the church, only to capture them and imprison them in their underground prison.

Kyokai is led by a single leader who oversees the entire operation. The leader's right-hand man serves as the assault team leader, also known as the captain. The assault team appears to be responsible for carrying out attacks and raiding settlements and locations.

Following the merging of worlds, some of Kyokai's men have ventured far beyond their base to investigate, gather intelligence, and loot valuable items for their organization and leader. Their leader may reward them for the treasures they bring back.

History

Demons vs Aliens Arc

After the allied humans teleport to the Land of the Lawless using teleportation magic, they witness some of Kyokai's men attacking one another.[1]

Demon Lord Arc

It soon becomes evident that some of Kyokai's men have been infected by parasites. Zaybi narrowly avoids being killed by one due to Gore ordering his men to burn it.[2] They then capture Zaybi, recognizing him as a mage, and plan to torture him for information about magic. However, Kyokai's assault team is soon ambushed by the allied humans, who manage to rescue Zaybi from them. In response, the assault team retaliates by launching an attack on the survivors. But Kyokai soon comes face-to-face with Masayoshi's bluff, which forces the Lawless to retreat due to their lack of information about the situation.[3]

Current Arc

Four days later, Kyokai sends their senior members, the Heretic Brothers - Grig and Gisangi - to attack humanity's combined forces' newest headquarters with their latest weapons: titans. They soon capture Zaybi and bring him to meet their leader, Rinri.[4] However, negotiations break down due to Kyokai's inhumane methods, which Zaybi strongly opposes.

Rinri then reveals that Kyokai has been watching Zaybi and his allies for the past few days and has concluded that they do not pose a threat. As a result, Kyokai plans to raid their base and take everything they own.

However, chaos erupts when a baby Tyrant Bear is lured to their base and begins attacking Kyokai's men. In response, they open fire on the beast. Grig then takes control of one of the titans and crushes the bear. During this, Zaybi escapes using magic - just as the mother Tyrant Bear appears, ready to confront the Lawless.[5]

While the Kyokai members struggle with the bear, Rinri heads to Kyokai's underground prison to steal 50 souls from their human prisoners using the Soul Container, Ca-G-66. Upon returning outside, he releases the container and fires it at the Tyrant Bear, piercing its abdomen and killing it instantly.

Noticing Zaybi, Rinri orders his men to break the mage's arms and legs. However, before they can act, the bear's corpse begins to move, indicating that it has been infected by a parasite. The creature quickly takes control of the carcass, attacking the Lawless and absorbing them along with the defeated titan weapons.

As Rinri and Gore dodge the parasite's tendrils, preparing to confront it, Grig watches in horror as Gaut is consumed by the massive Wild Beast Wurm.[6]

Rinri orders his men to fight the parasite, threatening to turn any who attempt to flee into Soul Container bullets. Many of Kyokai's men shoot at the giant parasite, but they are no match for its strength and fall one by one. Rinri then fires his Soul Container weapon into the Wild Beast Wurm, only for the creature to regenerate and lash out at him with a tendril. Gore intervenes, slicing the tendril in half, and urges Rinri to abandon the church and start over. However, the parasite then hurls Gore aside and once again targets Rinri.

Zaybi and his allies arrive just in time, saving Rinri and joining the Lawless in the battle against the parasite. Despite their combined efforts, the creature retaliates by launching several parasite wurms at them. Rinri is struck, drenched in the parasite's fluids, and collapses to the ground. A couple of the parasite wurms attempt to burrow into his chest and eye.

Moments later, the parasite sprouts a massive head resembling Gaut's and begins using his brain as a base to gain intelligence. Recognizing Gaut's face, Grig furiously shouts at the creature, vowing to punish it. However, the parasite grabs Grig with its tendril and repeatedly smashes him into the ground, killing him brutally.

Fear spreads among the Lawless, and some begin to flee, only to be consumed by parasites. The Wild Beast Wurm then devours even more of the Lawless, as well as some of the members of humanity's combined forces, growing larger and evolving into a colossal Super Wurm.

Rinri, barely clinging to life, along with an injured Gore and their remaining men, stare at the monstrous creature towering over them and their base. In utter desperation, the remaining Lawless men fall to their knees and begin to pray for salvation, drawing the attention of God.[7]
