Tyrin (Paipa, or Piper, in Japanese) is a male Elf Mage and a member of the Shining Force in the game Shining Force II.
Background
Tyrin left Desktop Kingdom in hope to find his freedom, but ended up stuck in Floor World under Randolf's leadership because Willard and his fellow vermin, living in the tunnels in the wall between them and the only known exit, proved too tough to shift for them.
Personality
Like all the four characters at Creed's Mansion, Tyrin is a bit arrogant. But his arrogance is partly due to the fact that he is a very powerful mage.
Strategy
Tyrin is one of the 4 choice characters at Creed's mansion. After Karna, he is the second most useful character because, contrasting fellow mage Kazin, Tyrin's spell selection is quite a bit better. If not recruited, players can always come back for him later, and out of the 4 options, is the second quickest to catch up to other Force members. Before promoting, he starts off with a better HP growth than Kazin, though it will wane over time. The rest of his stats aren't the greatest, but they ARE balanced, with only a slight favoritism for speed.
If you used Anri in the last game, you'll know what to expect from Tyrin. He's this game's mid-top tier mage, and actually gains Lv. 4 on every spell he has. Like Anri, his thing is the Freeze spell, and he'll level his up faster then Bolt.
He can be promoted to Wizard or Sorcerer and he is stronger then Kazin in either role, though considering his spell selection compared to Kazin's, Wizard may be the better path. However he promotes, though, his HP, defense and speed grow decently while his MP growth is high.
Although becoming a Sorcerer would potentially make him even more powerful, this change renders Kazin largely ineffective in the later stages of the game. Besides, Sorcerer spells also lose effectiveness when targeting multiple foes, so most players would consider this a letdown.
Being a Mage, he also suffers from that common Mage ailment of having a low Attack and Defense growths regardless of how he Promotes, and he suffers more then most other spellcasters when his MP runs empty, given the sheer variety of spells he can use.Powers & Magic
