Factions

A faction is an international and intergovernmental organization that a nation can form and lead, with the option for other foreign nations to join and participate in the faction, mainly for security, diplomatic, and military purposes.

Advantages and Disadvantages

While there are numerous advantages and disadvantages to joining factions, it is mostly impractical to do so unless under critical danger from a more powerful country. This also applies to creating a faction, as faction creation is not usually common or necessary, excluding private events. Instead, alliances are more simpler, easier, and widely-used for diplomatic interactions compared to factions.

Advantages

  • Sovereignty security can be strengthened, as any enemy nation who declares war on a faction member will also find themselves at war with every member in the targeted country's faction.
  • Faction members, excluding the leader, cannot have their cities annexed via treaty until all of the faction leader's cities are.
  • Should a country withdraw from the faction, an automatic 2 year truce will be activated between the country that left and the members of the faction. This can be exploited to force a truce.

Disadvantages

  • One cannot ally any country that is not associated with the faction
  • One cannot leave the faction while it is at war.
  • One can be exiled from the faction at any time unless you are its leader
  • One cannot manage any form of peace treaties during a faction war if they are not the faction leader, this includes a member state withdrawing from the faction war, or "white-peacing."
  • A belligerent in a war can join a faction during a war, altering the leadership of the war.
  • While not an issue specifically for engaging in a faction, some powerful countries at the start of the game, like the United States, China, India, Brazil, and others, could form a faction early in the game. This can cause they hinderances and disruptions to early expansion, as a country declaring an offensive war may encounter the defensive country joining the faction led by a powerful nation, creating a significant burden and challenge for the country on the offensive side.

Faction Types/Uses

Defensive Faction (Led by Powerful State)

A defensive faction that is led by a powerful state is a faction formed by a powerful state, often a superpower, meant to protect weaker states. These factions are useful to small countries to get sufficient protection by the faction leader, and useful to the faction leader to assert influence over its faction members.

Defensive Faction (Multiple Small States)

Smaller and weaker states can form a defensive faction to collectively combine enough power to counterbalance the strength of greater powers, such as superpowers, other factions, or potential aggressors.

Coalition Faction

A coalition faction, commonly spearheaded by a superpower or a large nation, is a faction type meant to form a joint collaboration among various countries to fight against one or more potential aggressors. There are some examples of a coalition faction:

  • Multiple small states wanting to invade a more powerful nation.
  • Powerful state(s) controlling and aiding smaller states to invade a more powerful nation.
  • Multiple powerful states working to invade a powerful state to eliminate competition.

Expansionist Faction

An expansionist faction involves multiple aggressive states cooperating to prevent intervention from more powerful nations or defensive factions. This type of faction aims to keep expanding members from conflicting with each other over spheres of interest.

Ideological Faction

Countries that have mutual ideologies may create a faction to expand the influence of the ideology.

Trivia

  • There is a common bug that results in your faction name becoming "Workspace".
  • When a faction leader declares on another leader it will make the war name (the faction you made vs the enemy faction).
  • The max amount of countries that can be in a faction are 12.
  • Faction members can now privately communicate in the Roblox chat by typing '/t'.
    • The command is also the same command to talk in team chat in other Roblox games.
  • A country can create a faction with a name that contradicts or conflicts with its national conditions. For instance, the United States could form a faction called the 'Communist Coalition,' even when they start with or align with Democracy.
  • Players often engage in trolling using factions. A common procedure they follow is, for example, if the player is Russia or the Ural Republic, they may move the capital to a city named 'Gay' and create a faction. Since the capital is 'Gay,' they can name the first part of their faction 'Gay' and the other part anything else, such as 'Community'.
