— Moody and Bunch, The Lair of Tanabrax |
Moody was one of Tanabrax's puppet leaders.
History
Before Wu and Garmadon's journey
Sometime after Tanabrax learned how to use the medallion, he encountered Bunch and Moody, two thieves that wanted to be great henchmen. Because of this, he and Bunch willingly let themselves be turned into puppets by Tanabrax, who promised to let the two thieves rule by his side once he conquered Ninjago, but didn't keep it.
Many years later, Bunch and Moody were ordered to kidnap the villagers so Tanabrax could steal their souls and turn them into puppets.
The Lair of Tanabrax (flashback)
After Bunch returned one night empty handed, Moody was dispatched the following night alongside Bunch to bring back a villager for Tanabrax. As the puppets wandered down the village's roads, Moody complained about the difficulty of their task, noting that the villagers had all barricaded their homes to prevent the puppets from entering and that he and Bunch's help were as intelligent as "A pile of logs." Nevertheless, the two managed to capture one of the two ninja who had foiled Bunch's efforts the night before, bringing him back to their dark master. As Tanabrax drained Wu's soul from his body, Moody discovered that the other ninja had followed the puppets back to their lair. In spite of his warning however, the ninja was too fast for Moody's allies to react and he was captured as the ninja fled from the underground lair.
Returning to the village, the ninja, alongside two women, promised not to hurt Moody if he gave up information about the other kidnapped villagers and Tanabrax, to which Moody obliged. After Moody divulged all the information he knew, Obachan told Moody in flattering words that he was free to go, her warmth and kindness surprising the puppet who remarked that Bunch and Tanabrax were nothing but mean and cruel to him. Emboldened by Obachan's kind words, Moody decided to stay with the villagers, helping them to train as they prepared for an assault on Tanabrax's lair.
Moody later accompanied Garmadon and Hana into the tunnels to Tanabrax's lair, where they were confronted by a very angry Bunch, who snapped at Moody, calling him a blockhead while insisting that the villagers were using him against his true allies. Unfortunately, these insults backfired against Bunch, as Moody immediately renounced his oath of servitude to Tanabrax and immediately began fighting against Bunch, during which both puppets knocked one another out. Moody would later recover from the struggle and would be carried by Obachan as the pair rushed deeper into Tanabrax's lair, just in time to save Garmadon. With Obachan hurling his small body through the air, Moody managed to grasp onto one of the few hatches in the lair, yanking it open and exposing his former master to direct sunlight, disintegrating him.
Following Tanabrax's destruction, Moody helped the Sons of the First Spinjitzu Master retrieve one of Tanabrax's books on Djinn Magic, allowing Garmadon to restore everyone's souls back into their bodies. However, Moody knew that since he and Bunch's bodies had long wasted away, the two of them would cease to exist once the transference was completed. Nevertheless, Moody made peace with his fate, expressing a final goodbye to his newfound friends as he and Bunch's puppet bodies disintegrated and their souls were carried away into the Departed Realm.
Appearance
While his human form is unclear, Moody's puppet form resembled a small wooden puppet in a form of a man that had red eyes and blue spiky hair that was made out of flax. In addition, he also had a blue bag with a picture of a crying face on it for a shirt.
