The Oracle (
Appearance
The current oracle is a tall tanned woman in her mid-thirties.[1]
Personality
The previous oracle did not hesitate to castrate an albino infant in order to depose a king, but still served as the shrine maiden's caretaker and mother figure, giving her an education.
The current oracle works closely with the shrine maiden. While mostly composed and generous to strangers, she is very protective of the shrine maiden, especially when the latter expressed her lack of identity outside of being a shrine maiden.[2]
Abilities
Diligent: The current oracle sees to the shrine maiden's every needs, as she has been her attendant for nearly 20 years.
Background
The previous oracle taught the Shrine Maiden of Shaoh to read and write, and took care of all her needs. She died when the shrine maiden was 20 years old, but not before revealing to her that as an infant, she was used to depose a former King of Shaoh, who was a warmonger.[3]
As the granddaughter of the previous oracle, the current oracle also worked to stabilize Shaoh. When the shrine maiden and the oracle learned that the King of Shaoh's faction was planning to depose the shrine maiden and reduce her influence, they traveled to Li under the pretext of getting medical care.
On a shopping trip to buy medicines for the shrine maiden, the oracle and Jazgul became separated. As thanks to Maomao, Yao, and En'en for returning Jazgul, the oracle gifted them silk cloths.[1] She later assisted Maomao and Yao's examination of the shrine maiden by giving them a list of foods the shrine maiden ate.[4]
Both the shrine maiden and the oracle colluded with Consort Aylin to have the shrine maiden die and have Aylin take the blame, so that the shrine maiden's secret would not be uncovered. When the shrine maiden prepared to poison herself, the oracle conferred with her one last time, but was interrupted when Maomao arrived to stop them.[3]
After the shrine maiden's "death", the oracle returned to Shaoh with Jazgul, to assist in the latter's position as the new shrine maiden of Shaoh.
Trivia
