Lingli

Lingli (鈴麗 (リンリー) , Rinrī^?) is the daughter of the current Emperor and Empress Gyokuyou, thus making her the Imperial Princess of Li. She is a minor character in The Apothecary Diaries.

Appearance

Lingli is a toddler with distinctly green eyes and reddish hair, which she gets from her mother.

Personality

Lingli is cheerful toddler with a tomboy streak.

Background

Lingli was one of the few infant children of the Emperor to survive the harem's "curse" brought about by face powder that contained lead. Her life was saved by Maomao, who knew about the powder and wrote notes to her mother and Lady Lihua warning them of the danger.

Lingli debuted at the winter garden party.

On her first walk outside of the Jade Pavilion with Maomao and Hongniang, Lingli found and chased after a tiny kitten,^[4] which became her playmate.

Trivia

• The 鈴 (líng) in her name means "bell", while the 麗 (lì) means "beautiful" or "pretty".
  • Her nickname, Xiaoling (小鈴, xiǎo líng), means "little bell".
• Maomao, the Cat was named based on Lingli calling it that.
• Mysteriously, Lingli seemed to sense her mother's second pregnancy with the Crown Prince.
