Wire is crafting material almost exclusively used for crafting Lockpicks.

They are rarely found in crates or corpses and can otherwise be obtained from Wolfman, The Three, the Trader or Piotrek for 30 Reputation each. It is noteworthy that Wolfman only provides the player with the option to buy one wire per day, which is not enough for the crafting of a Lockpick.

Trivia

Wires used to be required for many more crafting recipes, particularily most low-tier weapons, including the Single Shot Shotgun, the Single-shot Pistol, etc.
