A Map is a useful navigation tool in Darkwood, providing the player with the exact position of a location that has not been discovered or marked on the player map yet.
Obtaining
Several map items exist in Darkwood and can only be found and examined in containers in preset locations. Few maps can be found more than once revealing the same location.
Maps cannot be kept in the player's possession and are automatically consumed upon examination.

Legacy Maps
- Main article: Cut Content
The following maps once existed in prior versions of the game but have since been removed and replaced.
Map (Swamp Village), used to be found in the Swamp hideout.
Map (Underground Entrance), used to be found in the Underground entrance.
Function
The map's only function is to update the player map with a map marker of an undiscovered location, allowing the player to easily navigate the land. Each map is designated for a specific location, pointing to where the player should go in order to make progress in the main questline and certain side quests as most locations provided are major and directly tied to those quests.
Once picked up and examined, the player will be notified about the name of the location being found (much like when the player discovers a new location through exploration), and the map's respective marker will be added to the player's map, provided that the said location has not been found by the player beforehand, otherwise it will simply notify the player about the location being already marked.
