Description
The Berserker is a mini boss which is encountered in Expert Mode, replaced by the Gilded Berserker in the 'Ranked Up' version. It is considered to be the weakest boss in Expert Mode, however it spawns much earlier than any other boss. For its debut, it has quite a large amount of health, and has a special ability involving a hammer which it uses to stun towers temporarily.
Lore
"Berserkers are commonly found at the beginning of an XCF assault on local areas, though you'd be hard pressed to find them in actual combat scenarios."
"A puppet-leader used by the X faction to trick the defenders."
Appearance
The Berserker remains mostly unchanged. However, its skin is no longer reflective, and its gem and hammer are now blue in color.
The Berserker has dark turquoise skin and wears a black velociraptor skull on its head. It has a cyan colored gem implanted in its chest and hefty armor surrounding it. It wields a noticeably large yellow hammer with sturdy integrity, it uses this hammer to perform its only ability.
The old version of the Berserker has a sad face instead of a smile, it has gray-turquoise skin. it had no boots and extra bands behind its protective gear. Its legs' and other parts of its body such as armor is granite.
Tactics
- Place a cheap/unstannable tower at the very beginnng of the path, like a Slinger or a Recon Base. This tower will absorb the only smash the Berserker can make, allowing other towers to damage it normally.
- A single 3-2 Sniper setted on Strong or a 4-0 and 2-4 Sharpshooter is enough to kill Berserker.
- If you are able to afford 0-0 Electricizer, it will be effective, albeit slow against Berserker.
- An X-4 Elite can instantly kill the Berserker with its ability, though it is very expensive for Wave 19.
- Its better to use 3-2 Elite to deal with Berserker's shield health quickly and for more consistency.
- If you have Techblade, place 2 and max both out. Their damage will be increased to about 40 per hit, and will easily shred down Berserker. Be wary of Berserker's ability to stun, though.
- A 3-2 Lightbeamer can do good DPS to Beserker and other enemies if placed well.
- A 2-3 Lightbeamer can also tear it down if you can afford it.
Trivia
- Berserker and its variants holds the record for stunning towers for a very long time.
- The Berserker's name is a reference to the Old Norse written corpus, berserkers were warriors who were said to have fought in a trance-like fury.
- The Berserker's hammer is the All-Seeing Golem's Hammer.
- The Berserker's velociraptor skull resembles a Gaster Blaster from Undertale.
- When the Berserker dies, it kneel to the ground while groaning, and falls to the ground.
- The Berserker's death animation is a little bit buggy, after its death animation, it might stand up again. This is only visual.
- All other enemies with a death animation may also have this bug.
- According to the lore, the Berserker is likely a puppet leader designed to trick the defenders (you and other players) into thinking that you've successfully defeated the Robotic Overseer's army.
- However, as you quickly learn, there are much more powerful enemies awaiting you after bringing the Berserker down (Such as Teleporters, Raygunners and Sprinter M5s).
- This may mean that the Berserker is actually a robotic entity (or a living puppet) that was created by the Unseen Army, unlike Gilded Berserker (which is a hired cyborg mercenary).
- This is the helmet used by the Berserker.
