Temple (神殿)[1] is the developer name given to the arena of the 1st colossus. The name refers to the ruined temple at the end of it.
Description
It is a misty valley surrounded by high walls. The only man-made structures are the ruined temple and the ones seen in the pathway at the entrance of the arena.
Location
The arena is located at the center of the Forbidden Lands, on top of the cliffs seen to the south of the Shrine of Worship, at quadrant F5.
Trivia
- The theme Sign of the Colossus plays when first finding the arena.
- In the pre-E3 demo, the entrance of the arena originally had a small set of stairs, and the theme Lakeside played, likely as a placeholder.
- The ruined temple was originally accessible, and it looked similar to the one that the Canossa has. In the older days, you would have to hide under it and wait for the 1st Colossus to crouch down so you could grab its hand or chest.
- The trees seen close to the cliffside are destructable and shake as the colossus walks.
- If you stand at the top of the rubble next to the ruined temple, the colossus won't be able to attack.
- At the top of the temple, something which resembles a door can be seen, but it's not accessible without hacking and leads nowhere. In the PS4 version, the door is blocked by rubble.
- The Temple is the most centrally-located of all arenas.
- As seen in early footage and screenshots of the arena, it used to be larger, with a path to the right of the now ruined temple.
