Nyororo

They slither lazily but strike swiftly.

— Description, Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia

The Nyororo[1] (ニョロロ[2]?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, snake-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance

The Nyororo is based on a snake. They are mostly black, but their tails are striped orange. They also have two cartoony eyes that look upwards on their heads, and a strange, spike-like object on their head.

Overview

In Sonic Labyrinth, the Nyororos appear exclusively in Labyrinth of the Castle 4-2. They will slither across the floor in one direction slowly, but when the player enters their line of sight, they will speed up and follow them until they get out of their sightline. To destroy a Nyororo, the player must use the Spin Dash.

Powers and abilities

Nyororos have nothing special in particular, but they are territorial and will increase their speed to attack intruders. They are also implied to have acute senses, since no matter what direction they're facing, they will attack if an intruder enters their territory.

Trivia

  • The Nyororo's name is derived from nyoro-nyoro, which is a Japanese onomatopoeia, meaning "to slither."
  • The Nyororo has a similar name to the Noro-Noro, a Badnik from Sonic the Hedgehog CD.
