Log

The log[1] is a gimmick that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a tree trunk used for launching the user through the air and the world of Camelot's equivalent of the Jump Panel.

Description

The log is a small tree trunk half embedded in the ground at a slightly raised angle. They are often found in rows of three.

In Sonic and the Black Knight, logs only appear in Shrouded Forest. In gameplay, they act much like the Jump Panel; whenever the player steps onto a log, the playable character will be launched forward through midair for a short distance before landing again. This is often useful for reaching objects otherwise out of reach. More often than not though, there will be thorns sprouting out of the ground to damage the player when using a log. Upon using them, the player earns a "Dash Bonus" for their score.

Trivia

  • The air tricks the characters pull whenever using a log are the same as the tricks performed by using a Rainbow Ring in Sonic Heroes.
