Durendal (デュランダーナ De~yurandāna?) is an item that appears in Sonic and the Black Knight. It is an unlockable weapon that can be equipped to and wielded by Sir Lancelot.
Description
Durendal is a double-edged sword. It has a brownish-gray grip with a small red diamond cut gem as a sword pommel. It also has a cross-guard with pointy curved bars on the sides and decorations resembling claws on the middle of the guard that look like they are grabbing onto the blade above. The blade of Durendal has a unique shape, resembling a very long axe head with a slightly curve edge vertically on where the sword point would be and slightly pointy sides near the foot of the blade. The blunt surface of the blade is decorated with flowing images and has thin figures on both the tip and foot of the blade which are connected by a line along the fuller.

Durendal most likely comes from the French word "duer" meaning to endure.
Durendal is said to be the sword of Charlemagne's Paladin Roland in French legendary literature.
