Being based on the Akatentos, the Aotentos are ladybug-like Badniks with round, blue body armor, with said armor being covered black spots and having gray edges. They also have wide, cartoony eyes, yellow bodies, and a yellow tailpipe. Like the Akatentos, the Aotentos mode of transportation is a single black wheel underneath their bodies.
Overview
The Aotentos make their only appearance in Sonic Advance 3, where they appear as enemies exclusively encountered in Route 99.
In gameplay, the Aotentos simply stand still up until the player approaches them, in which they will spread their wings and jump above them, similarly to the Mantis from Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Despite this, the Aotentos are easy to avoid, as the player can simply run underneath them to completely ignore these Badniks entirely. Like with most Badniks in the game, the Aotentos can be easily destroyed via any attack method, and will release a Ring upon their destruction.
Powers and abilities
Similarly to real ladybugs, the Aotentos are equipped with insect-like wings that allow them to jump high above their foes. Despite this, the Aotentos have no means of weaponry in order to harm their foes.
Trivia
"Ao" means "blue" in Japanese, whilst "tentō" is derived from "tentōmushi," the Japanese word for "ladybug."
The Aotento's attack pattern is incredibly similar to the Mantis from Sonic the Hedgehog 3, as both Badniks stand still and jump in one spot in order to catch their foes by surprise.
