Chapter 69

Blue (Korean: 블루, RR: Beullu) is a Gold Gryphon, a Tier 2 wind-attribute monster, who was raised by Han Yoojin. She currently acts as a kiseungsu for Haeyeon Guild, though occasionally participates in raids with Breaker Guild's Moon Hyuna as well.

Appearance

Blue is a gryphon with a white-feathered eagle's head and a feline body with soft, cream-colored fur, noted to resemble a plump cat more than a lion, though this likely changed as she grew into her adult size. As a gryphon, she also has wings that are fairly large relative to her body. Blue's most notable feature is her bright, vivid blue eyes, which she was named for.[1][2] Blue's forelegs are lion-esque and furred but with birdlike talons, while her hind legs are fully feline[3] with pink paw pads.[4] Originally about as big as a mid-sized dog,[1] Blue as an adult is big enough to carry people on her back.[5]

Personality

Blue is an extremely high-spirited, playful, and friendly individual. Though she can be aggressive, she generally avoids hurting people in favor of finding new playmates.[1][3] She is curious and inquisitive to a fault, a trait that combines poorly with her destructive tendencies, leading her to eat whole containers of human food and wreck an entire room's worth of furniture in a single night.[6][2] Blue's amiable nature extends to the point where she will readily listen to and obey people she knows well even if they aren't carrying her Owner's Token, considering them her new playmates.[7] Blue's remarkable friendliness may arise from the Gold Gryphon's nature of living in flocks and typically being surrounded by companions.[8] Unfortunately, her lightheartedness can also cause unexpected roadblocks, like Blue sometimes "playing with her food" when catching monsters, doing tricks with them instead of killing them right away.[9]

In a departure from her usual free-spiritedness, Blue has a strict biological clock, strictly sleeping and rising with the sun, a perfect 9-to-9 schedule.[10]

Abilities

Stats

As a juvenile, Blue was of stat rank C.[1][3] She has since been raised into an adult by Han Yoojin, and has now reached her maximum potential stat rank of S.[11]

Blue's speed is so high that she considers distant locations only mildly out of the way, with an attempt to relocate her house failing because it was located less than 50 km away, a distance she could cover in under 10 minutes, leading her to consider the new house just an extension of her original home.[12]

Skills

  • Ruler Of Wind (S): An optimized initial skill,[1] acquired through growth.[11] Presumably allows for masterful manipulation of wind.
  • Gold Arrow (A): An optimized initial skill,[1] acquired through growth.[11] Presumably a dashing skill allowing for high-speed charges.[9][13]
  • Wind Resistance (A): An optimized initial skill, acquired as a juvenile.[1] A standard resistance skill, presumably causing wind-attribute attacks to be less effective against the user, as well as shielding her from any harmful effects of her own wind-attribute abilities.
  • Sharp Cry (B): An optimized initial skill,[1] acquired through growth.[11] Nature unknown; possibly a sonic scream-type skill, or some method of air manipulation using sound.

Belongings

Relationships

Han Yoojin

Blue greatly loves Han Yoojin, the longtime bearer of her Owner's Token and the one who raised her. Though their relationship got off to a rocky start, with Blue not understanding how weak he was compared to her,[1] she quickly adapted and became very friendly with him.

Bak Yerim

Blue and Bak Yerim get along nicely, their similarly friendly personalities meshing well.[4] Yerim often plays with Blue and keeps her company, readily matching her excitement levels.[14][15][11] Once Yerim starts leading her own team, Blue is assigned to be her kiseungsu until a more suitable attribute-based match is found for Yerim, a task she performs happily.[16]

Peace

Blue is curious and playful towards Peace. After he ruthlessly quashed her first few attempts at attacking him and established the hierarchy between them, she learned not to pick fights[6] and now makes sure to listen to his warnings.[17]

Noah Luire

Blue and Noah are flight partners, something Blue was so delighted by that she did acrobatic tricks midair.[18] They have trained and flown together long enough that she considers him a friend,[19] greeting him affectionately[5] and seeking him out to play.[20]

Trivia

  • Blue was the first female monster at the kiseungsu rearing facility, after Peace and Chirpie, both nongendered (though Peace is assumed to be male).
