Breaker Guild

Breaker Guild (Korean: 브레이커 길드, RR: Beureikeo Gildeu) is one of the major Hunter guilds of Korea, led by S-rank Moon Hyuna. It is located in Seoul, South Korea, near the Blue House,[1] and is among the 3 largest guilds in Korea.[2]

Members

Breaker Guild is notable for a majority portion of its Hunters being women, largely due to guild leader Moon Hyuna and the founding guild members all being women.[3]

Breaker Guild has a uniform consisting simply of a cropped jacket. Breaker's zip-up jackets are primarily black with a silver zipper, with similar zips on the pockets. Purple accents line the underside of the sleeves, towards the torso, with one innermost solid band bracketed by a thinner stripe. Patches decorate the upper halves of the sleeves, along the upper arm, as well as the breast of the jacket. One round white patch with a purple B is present on the left breast, while additional lettering and a purple shield emblem are present on the right breast.[4]

History

Moon Hyuna Awakened during the early days of dungeons alongside a number of female athletes, with their ranks being primarily A–B with C-rank at the lowest and Moon Hyuna as the sole S-rank. The athlete group banded together to form a guild. Despite Moon Hyuna's desire to go independent, the rest of the group disagreed, and in the end they compromised, finding sponsors and founding Breaker with Moon Hyuna as the "puppet" leader.[3] These sponsors included three major companies along with a number of politicians and high-ranking government officials.[5]

Breaker's contract with their sponsors lasted 5 years to start with. It was at once favorable to the guild members, with magic stones being split evenly between members and sponsors while items were owned entirely by raiding parties, and unfavorable, with the sponsors demanding protection and favorable treatment from the guild members. Other conditions were also included, such as profits of dungeon byproducts being split in certain amounts.[5]

3 years after the appearance of dungeons, Breaker had the most kiseungsu of any guild in Korea.[2]

Original timeline, pre-regression

Breaker Guild conducted the first raid on an S-rank dungeon, and obtained the reward of the Festival's Beluga Whale Tears. Having no use for the ice-attribute skill granted by the item, Moon Hyuna put it up for auction, and it was sold off overseas.[6]

At some point, at least 3 years after the dungeons appeared, Moon Hyuna had a falling out with her sponsors and the guild collapsed.[7] Han Yoojin suspected it may have been because of an inability to terminate her contract with her sponsors and go independent, but wasn't certain.[5]

Synopsis

Breaker Guild forms a contract with Han Yoojin alongside multiple other guilds and the Association for the provision of kiseungsu, for which Moon Hyuna acts as the representative in the negotiations.[2] Moon Hyuna and an entourage of Breaker Guild Hunters are also present at the broadcast to announce Han Yoojin's magic beast rearing skill.[7] As part of their contract, Breaker also sends high-rank guards for Han Yoojin's protection, who manage to gain his goodwill primarily by praising the kiseungsu he's training.[8]

Moon Hyuna joins Han Yoojin and Han Yoohyun when they go to pick up baby monsters arriving at the port, attempting on her guild's behalf to coax Yoojin into lending her one of the early kiseungsu he trains while Breaker searches for a suitable baby monster. She meets the Gold Gryphon Blue here,[9] and later agrees to get Yoojin magic horse meat from one of Breaker's dungeons for Blue's food,[10] a promise she later fulfills along with a Breaker Guild raiding party that includes Seo Heeyeon.[11] She also accompanies Yoojin and Yoohyun to meet with the Hunter Association regarding Yoojin's optimal skill-identifying ability.[10]

Upon the reveal of Yoo Myeongwoo's skill, Gold Forge's Owner, Moon Hyuna attempts to contact him, but is unfortunately unable to be present at the official press release due to a dungeon under Breaker urgently having to be raided.[12]

Moon Hyuna is later present in the Black Golem's City dungeon raid along with most of the country's S-ranks, having a few fights against the others[13] and later assisting in defeating the Mountain-Swallowing Babar.[14] She participates in another S-rank dungeon raid soon after, presumably alongside other Breaker Guild members;[15] this dungeon is the same one that rewarded the Beluga Whale tears before the regression, but this time, Moon Hyuna instead obtains a priceless elixir.[6]

When Han Yoojin is on break after the initial encounter with Jellyfish, Breaker Guild agrees to have calls from him to them screened to prevent him from getting involved in current affairs.[16] Moon Hyuna visits him to keep him company, and he makes a deal with her, occasionally lending Blue to her for raids.[17]

Meanwhile, to forge connections with Yoo Myeongwoo, Breaker Guild assists in funding the equipment and construction of his workshop.[18] They also file orders for equipment once his workshop is established, some of which remain pending for a while.[19]

At some point, Breaker identifies a potential baby monster they can use as a kiseungsu being sold overseas, and Moon Hyuna leaves the country to participate in the auction.[20] The A-rank ranking competition happens in the meantime, during which a Breaker Hunter gifts Yoo Myeongwoo a sketchbook and pencil made of dungeon materials upon learning he wants to draw.[21] After the competition, Moon Hyuna returns having successfully won the baby monster, which is revealed to be a Snowfield Reindeer, later named Sorok. Upon landing and meeting with Han Yoojin, Moon Hyuna is also presented with an invitation to Sung Hyunjae's birthday party,[22] which she attends on behalf of Breaker Guild.[23]

When Han Yoojin requests for an amendment to the kiseungsu rearing contract in order to bring the facility further under his own control instead of the guilds', Moon Hyuna readily agrees,[24] handing over her keys to his house's mini-portal and door.[1] They visit Breaker Guild together, where Han Yoojin sits in on a meeting between Moon Hyuna and Lee Hyoyeon,[3] after which Moon Hyuna tells Yoojin about Breaker Guild's circumstances.[5]

Trivia

  • The guild has an official social media account, which is currently following and followed by Han Yoojin's account.[25]
  • Kim Hayeon, current head of Haeyeon Guild's legal team, was originally slated to come to Breaker Guild, but was rejected due to the sponsors who didn't want a woman in a leadership position.[26]
