Solo is a non-playable character in Breath of Fire II. She is the Earth Shaman and, after recruiting her in FarmTown, she will move into Township. Doing so unlocks additional Shaman transformations which the player can use to enhance their party members.
Role in Breath of Fire II
During their travels, the party has the opportunity to donate to the St. Namanda Church. If they donate twenty times before Daisy Mark's death, and then return to FarmTown after Daisy is killed, they will find Solo standing alone in a field, admiring the area's rich soil. After speaking with the party, she goes to join Gigli Ziz and the other Shamans at Township. Since the player only has a brief window of opportunity in which they are able to donate to the St. Namanda Church, this makes Solo the only Shaman who is able to be permanently missed.
Appearance
Solo's appearance and clothing greatly differs from that of the other shamans. While they are uniformly slender, Solo is of a noticeably heavier build. Both her physical appearance and dress share a vaguely Polynesian influence.
Etymology
Solo is an English word used to denote that an activity is performed when an individual is by themselves. It originates from the Latin Solus meaning "alone." This is perhaps in reference to Solo, and many of the other Shamans, being alone when you discover them. It may be worth noting that she's the only Shaman with no palette swaps, which is another way that she's "solo".
