- "No!! Pooty wants that one!!"
- — Puti after Peach and Palo each pick a target
Puti is a boss enemy who appears in Breath of Fire II. She, along with her sisters Palo and Peach, attack Ryu and Bow on Mt. Fubi.
Role in Breath of Fire II
Puti is one of the three harpy sisters encountered on Mt. Fubi, Ryu and Bow must go through Mt. Fubi to continue on their search for Suzy. As the two make their way in the mountain they keep hearing unknown voices around them that they become weary of until they are attacked by the sisters.
They announce that they're sick of eating cats and dogs for the usual dinner and they would make a nice change, each of the harpy sisters fight among each other to have Ryu for their own as the team defend themselves in battle.
Strategy
It is recommended that Ryu are Bow are at least level 5 for this fight. This fight is abnormal in that, in the beginning, each of the sisters will only attack Ryu with relatively weak attacks. Eventually, thy will begin to attack each other as they bicker who will get Ryu. Once they finish their in-fighting, the power of their attacks will greatly increase and they will alternate between attacking Ryu and Bow. At this point it becomes useful to have Bow cast Def-Up on each party member. Also use Bow as the designated healer, so that Ryu, who has better offensive abilities, can focus on attacking the enemies.
Etymology
Puti's name derives from Putto, an alternate name for the cherubs, a winged infant common in renaissance art. However, in both the Japanese version of the game, the plural form of the word is used, while in the English version her name is a misspelled version of the plural form. Her name is further misspelled as "Pooty" in dialogue boxes that occur during the battle.
