- "Listen, o child of mine, that thou might learn wisdom. We possess a power so great that thy mind cannot fathom it--indeed, a power so great that here, we are as gods. And yet, how that power is used--be it for good or ill--rests in thy hands, little one. For this world is thine, not ours."
- — P'ung Ryong to Nina
P'ung Ryong is a character in Breath of Fire IV. He is the wind dragon, the patron of Nina's people, the Wyndians.
Role in Breath of Fire IV
P'ung Ryong known as the Wind Dragon is a member of the Endless that flies and guards over Wyndia. Its dragon form looks more of a serpent with tusks and horns and something like a small elephant trunk for the nose while its avatar looks like a smaller version of the dragon and more human in feature holding a fork on its hand.
As the most accessible dragon, he was approached by Ryu and the party at Pung'tap to ask for guidance which then lead them to the village of Chek.
Summoned again at the Yorae Shrine, together with the rest of the Endless they agreed to help Ryu by giving him a part of their power for the upcoming and inevitable destiny.
Trivia
- "P'ung" "Ryong" means wind dragon in Korean.
- The short snout suggests that a tapir could serve as inspiration, the tusks suggest an elephant, the underbelly might resemble features of a whale wheres the serpentine body could stem from the way Chinese dragons are depicted.
