Agni is the most powerful of all Ryu's dragon transformations in the original Breath of Fire. It can be obtained immediately after receiving all of Ryu's other dragon forms and finding a secret dragon shrine in a cave northwest of Camlon.

Role in Breath of Fire

Agni's main purpose is to expose the goddess Myria's true form, which is required in order for the player to see the game's best ending. In addition to its role in the plot, Agni gives Ryu 999 HP and an attack that does a flat 999 damage, ignoring any potential modifiers. It is considered a fusion spell, and leaves only Ryu in the battle until the transformation ends.

Transforming into Agni requires that no party members are stunned and that Karn not be in any of his fusion forms. Notably, the ability's use is not restricted if individuals are outright missing from the party (for example if they have not yet been recruited). This means that the transformation can be used with less than eight party members if the game is glitched or hacked.

Etymology

Agni is the name of a Hindu god of fire.
