Marlon

Marlon is a bird who appears in an unnamed comic released on July 29, 2024.^[1] and a minor character in Angry Birds Mystery Island.^[2]

Appearance

Marlon is a round, greyish pink mauve bird, around the same size as Red, with a light mauve belly, short zigzag markings on his cheeks, and a short yellow beak. In the comic, he wears a grey flat cap on his head but once he is transported to the Mystery Island universe, he wears a conical hat with his feathers sticking out the top and wears a blue Hawaiian shirt.

The first appearance of Marlon was on the Angry Birds Twitter account on August 16, 2024.^[3]

Red explains the havoc caused by an unnatural storm cloud to the other birds, realizing they need to understand it better to eliminate it, Silver emphasizes teamwork and volunteers to gather samples deep within the storm, Bubbles questions the need for plural volunteers, prompting a newcomer named Marlon, to bravely step forward. Acknowledging Marlon's courage, Red decides to accompany him into the cloud.

Launching into the storm, they encounter a warp hole, and Red is struck by lightning, witnessing strange visions, he returns safely, but Marlon is missing, leaving Chuck distraught, as the storm dissipates, they realize a friendly young pig on the island might hold answers. Uncertain about Marlon's fate, they resolve to find the pig and uncover the storm's mysteries.

Marlon appears as the antagonist for the episode, Marlon has been on the island for quite some time, having a shrine for himself and an army of crabs, he's also the one takes Egg, renaming it Mini Marlon, Hamylton disguises himself as a bird to distract to him, Meanwhile, Mia, Rosie, and Buddy try to retrieve Egg, swapping Egg with a coconut, leading to chaos when a giant boulder threatens everyone. Eventually, Marlon learns Hamylton is actually a pig, prompting a lecture about equality from Hamilton, Marlin considers keeping Hamilton but ultimately decides against it.

Never Meet Your Heroes

Determined to bring Marlon home, Red, Chuck, and Stella sought out Professor Pig, who provided them with blueprints to reconstruct the portal that had taken Marlon, believing no one should be separated from their family, with Silver leading the portal’s construction, the Flock prepared for the possibility of reuniting with their lost friend.

However, when the portal was activated, instead of retrieving Marlon, it unleashed Dr. Eggman and his army of Badniks, along with pigs in Badnik costumes, The Flock was quickly overwhelmed, leading to the unexpected arrival of Shadow the Hedgehog, as the birds scattered, Red confronted Silver about the portal’s failure, but Silver defended the unpredictability of interdimensional physics.

Trivia

• He is the second bird in the Classic Universe to wear a hat/cap. the first being Willow.
• In the Japanese dub of Angry Birds Mystery Island, Marlon is voiced by Hamylton's Japanese voice actor.
• It's unknown if the Marlon that appears in Mystery Island is the same one from the unnamed comic.
