T-34/85

The T-34/85 is the North Korean variant of the Soviet T-34. At 15 points, it is among the least expensive tanks in the North Korean arsenal.

History

For many Redfor countries, the reason for retaining a large number of old-fashioned tanks is due to the low modernization rate caused by industrial strength and other factors while requiring a large number.

Before the outbreak of the Korean War, North Korea had already taken over at least 150 T-34s from the Soviet Union. In addition to the continuous assistance provided by the Soviets during the war, the Chinese People's Volunteer Army donated no less than 10 divisions of equipment to North Korea before evacuation after the signing of the ceasefire agreement. This ensures that North Korea has a large number and numerous models of T-34s (e.g. 76mm obr. 1942 and 1943), but on the other hand, they are almost all old World War II antiques.

After the Korean War, the T-34/85 continued to serve as the main equipment in the Korean People's Army for 20 years, and according to Chinese media, there were still 250 used as teaching vehicles in 2015. Although the situation of the militia is unknown, it can be imagined that there is still a considerable numbers.

Overview and tactics

The T-34/85 uses a S-53 85mm gun as its main weapon, with a decent base accuracy of 40%. The main gun does not carry much ammunition (only 30 rounds). It also has a secondary 12.7mm DShK with 1000 rounds of ammunition and a 1050m range.

Due to the inability of its main gun to fire in movement, it is fundamentally unable to serve as an offensive weapon. The fuel range on the T-34/85 is abysmal, so it is unadvisable to deploy in many larger maps. It also has very little armor, making it extremely vulnerable to any enemy fire which hits the tank.

The best way to use the T-34/85 is defensively. Using forest or buildings as concealment, small groups of T-34 tanks can easily penetrate the sides of many tanks. The T-34 also has more enough power to destroy APCs and their infantry, but please note that they must be supported by reconnaissance units.

Of course, in multiplayer battles, except for purely entertainment situations, such tanks should not be carried out.
