Terrance "Smitty" Smith, better known as Zeltrax, is the secondary antagonist of Power Rangers Dino Thunder and a minor antagonist in Power Rangers S.P.D..
He was a ruthless ammonite-themed cyborg who acted as a general for Mesogog and one of the three archenemies of Tommy Oliver, the others being Goldar and Mesogog himself.
He was voiced by James Gaylyn, who also voiced General Benaag in Power Rangers S.P.D..
Biography
Before becoming Zeltrax, Terrance Smith was once partners with Tommy Oliver and Anton Mercer.
Smitty and Tommy were both up for a job at Mercer Industries, but Tommy got it instead of him. Later on, as Smitty was doing an experiment in another lab when an accident resulted in an explosion that caused terrible damage to his body.
Taking what remained of him, Mesogog placed it in a cyborg armor, transforming him into Zeltrax, a cybernetic general. He became completely intent on revenge on Tommy Oliver, blaming him for what happened to him and lead Mesogog's forces in their attacks on Reefside.
During an attempt to make himself stronger with the Geno-Randomizer, Zeltrax accidentally created a "son" called Goldenrod, who he sent to destroy Tommy and the Power Rangers, only for him to be destroyed, increasing his strong hate for the rangers. Later when the White Dino Ranger joined Mesogog's team, Zeltrax wanted to get rid of him and used the Copyotter monster to create a copy of his Drago Sword.
He proceeded to trash Mesogog's lab and left the sword at the scene to frame the White Ranger, but this only made things harder for his master, after the White Ranger escaped Mesogog's life draining machine and joined the other Dino Rangers. Zeltrax made up for this by creating a White Ranger Clone completely evil with no trace of Trent in him and the White Terrosaurus monster, but they were defeated and the monster destroyed. Some time after this, the cyborg was almost destroyed by one of his master's plans and left for dead, as a result, Zeltrax turned on the dinosaur-hybrid, going out on his own.
Some time after this, Zeltrax became aware of the powerful waters beneath a tree at Reefside High and used some of it to enter a super-powered form. He proved almost unstoppable, but was defeated by the Red Ranger's Triassic Battlizer.
During this time, Zeltrax was approached by Emperor Gruumm, who traveled to the past so that he wouldn't have to deal with the S.P.D. Power Rangers. The cyborg reluctantly agreed to join forces with him and lead a combined army of Tyrannodrones and Krybots to take on the Power Rangers, only to be defeated again.
Later, Zeltrax built a zord for himself, Zelzord, and after Mesogog was defeated by the Rangers, he unleashed it upon Reefside. However the rangers used the self-destruct of their Dinozords to destroy the Zelzord and Tommy and Kira Ford destroyed Zeltrax once and for all.
Personality
At first, Terrance "Smitty" Smith was a kind, harmless and polite man, who was a good friend of Tommy and Anton Mercer but, after the accident, he became a brutal, cold and ruthless cyborg. He was obsessed with hatred toward Tommy, because Zeltrax thought that if it hadn't been for Tommy getting the job he wanted, then he most likely would not have suffered in the accident. This led Zeltrax to never be able to forgive Tommy, as he wanted to destroy the Dino Rangers or anyone on Tommy’s side at any cost. Zeltrax was an arrogant, stubborn and confident warrior with contempt to his enemies. However, despite his negative side, Zeltrax was a noble, honorable and honest soldier, not lacking honor and dignity and could show pity to his opponents, as well as respect and fair play. He also felt romantic affections towards Elsa. Zeltrax was faithful to Mesogog and loved him as a father, but then he betrayed him and lost his loyalty to him following a near fatal experience that almost killed him. When Tommy discovered that Zeltrax was Smitty, he felt pity for his old friend and thought he still could save him, but Zeltrax didn't believe in it. However, Zeltrax still possessed a soul, considering that he genuinely loved his son Goldenrod and was extremely furious when he perished.
Powers and Abilities
Normal form
- Superhuman Strength: As one of the main antagonists of Dino Thunder, Zeltrax is far stronger than any monster or even Elsa. He is surpassed only by Mesogog himself. When he tied Ethan up with his tractor beam, he was strong enough to slam him hard against a wall with a swipe of his hand and, when fighting the newly morphed Tommy, Zeltrax was able to knock back the new Ranger with a single kick.
- Durability/Reformation: As one of the main villains, as well as being a heavily armored cyborg, Zeltrax can take a lot of powerful hits and be unfazed. He was able to be blasted by the Z-Rex Blaster, as well as explode from the attack, and be unfazed. When the Thundersaurus Megazord destroyed his Aerial Assault Craft, his cockpit exploded many times in his face yet he was unfazed.
- Resilience: After being blasted by the Z-Rex Blaster, Zeltrax was able to get straight back up.
- Tractor Beam: Zeltrax can flash his "eyes" and fire a purple tractor beam from his left hand. This was powerful enough to let him lift up Ethan and slam him against a wall several times and also cause him visible pain on contact.
- Master Swordsman: Zeltrax is an absolute master of the sword. He can easily overpower the core Dino Rangers but is no match for Tommy or Trent or Conner in the Triassic Battilizer.
- Master Combatant: Zeltrax is amazing at hand to hand combat, able to easily overpower the three main Dino Rangers whilst being on par with Tommy although he was outmatched by Trent.
- Helmet Blasts: Zeltrax can fire purple energy blasts from either side of his head which were powerful enough to take Conner, Ethan, and Kira down in one hit.
- Teleportation: Zeltrax can summon a green portal above him and go into it to transport to any location at will.
Arsenal
- Sword: Zeltrax has a blue-bladed retractable gladius-like sword that is normally rested on a sheath located below his left knee.
- Lightning Blasts: Zeltrax can fire blue lightning from his sword. They were powerful enough to cause small explosions (although those were only in the background). A single blast was enough to wipe out Tommy whilst Zeltrax fought alongside Donkeyvac .
- Shield: Zeltrax carries an indestructible shield to defend him whilst he is fighting his enemies.
- Axe: On one occasion, Zeltrax has used a black-colored axe in his battle, starting from Back in Black, he wielded the blue-bladed gladius sword instead.
- Double-Bladed Spear: As Super Zeltrax, while he still has the sword and its sheath below his left knee, he opted to use a double-bladed sword as his weapon in this form.
Super Zeltrax form
- Strength: Zeltrax was stronger than before, being able to hold Krista in one arm effortlessly while using the other to climb up a cliff.
- Durability: Zeltrax was more durable in this form, since when he was defeated by Connor in his Triassic Battlizer mode and exploded, he survived his attack and only reverted to his normal form.
- Lightning Cloud: Zeltrax could conjure up a green storm cloud that will send white lightning bolts raining down at his opponents.
- Lasers: Zeltrax could fire purple lasers from his hands like before but they were stronger.
- Teleportation: Zeltrax retained his ability to teleport himself and sometimes others next to him like before in his normal form.
- Mirage Creation: Zeltrax was able to create a mirage of himself to avoid getting destroyed by Connor's Battle Blast attack.
- Darkness Spreading: Whilst he was in the Zelzord, Zeltrax released a massive spread of darkness from himself that darkened the sky.
- Climbing: Zeltrax could climb up anything effortlessly as seen when he was climbing up a cliff with the captured Krista.
- Extraordinary Leaper: Zeltrax retained his ability to leap at incredible distances.
Arsenal
- Double-Bladed Spear: As Super Zeltrax, he opted to use a double-bladed spear as his weapon.
- Ground Implosion: Super Zeltrax could energize his spear with light green energy and slam it down to create an implosion on the ground that was strong enough to send rocks falling down.
- Energy Cuts: Zeltrax could fire lime green energy cuts from his spear.
- Tree of Life's Branch: Zeltrax stole a branch from the Tree of Life which he plunged into the sap underneath to gain more power.

Trivia
- Zeltrax is the only regularly used Dino Thunder villain to have a counterpart in the Super Sentai series that Dino Thunder was based on Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger. His counterpart was Darkness Messenger Geildon, Destruction Messenger Jannu, and Asuka and the reason his counterpart was three people was because his counterpart was a Cursed Armor that went from person to person whenever someone defeated the previous holder in battle which also drove the user insane. His Super Form's Sentai counterpart is a recreation of the cursed armor created by the main villain Dezumozorlya to serve as an avatar form for him.
- Zeltrax is the first former friend of the Power Rangers turned evil to die a villain instead of being redeemed.
- As mentioned in Golden Boy, Smitty was an orphan without any family.
