Heroes

The Heroes (勇 (ゆう) 者 (しゃ) , Yūsha^?) are a group of 47 superhuman individuals created by an unnamed king to oppose the Great Demon King Army. After gathering together in the Humanity's Fortress, they set out to attack their assigned targets among the Demon Lords.

Overview

Heroes are a group of superhumans specifically trained to defeat the Demon Lords and, ultimately, the Great Demon King. Each hero wears a unique outfit, ranging from various leather and metal armors to an array of distinctive garments. They all wield a powerful holy sword known as the Sword of Courage, which grants them a significant advantage in battle. Additionally, each hero is accompanied by a support fairy partner. These fairies assist their heroes in various ways and can perform a "Fairy Union" with their partner, granting them a powerful special ability. This ultimate skill is limited to heroes and is designed for use in a final fight.^[1]

However, with many heroes defeated by the Demon Lords and due to the changes occurring around the world, the statuses of most heroes remain still unknown. Originally, Humanity's Fortress served as their headquarters. After its fall, the headquarters relocated based on where the remaining humans chose to settle next.

After the worlds merged, the remaining heroes became an important part of the Combined Forces of Humanity.

History

Background

For centuries, humanity has suffered under the relentless invasion and slaughter of demons.^[2] But instead of succumbing to fear, they worked in secret to launch a hero-raising initiative. When the Demon King's army uncovered the plan, they attempted to crush it,^[3] but humanity successfully selected 47 exceptional warriors from around the globe. These individuals, chosen for their unparalleled skills and abilities, became humanity's best hope against the demon threat. Every resource, technology, time, and hope was poured into training these warriors to form the ultimate superhuman force.^[4] Their days were grueling, marked by relentless effort, sweat, and blood.^[5] At some point during their time at training, each hero was paired with a support fairy to assist them.^[6]

Introduction Arc

After completing their training, the heroes gather to listen to their king's speech about their mission. Soon after, they embark on their respective journeys to defeat the Demon Lords assigned to them.^[7] However, in the following six months, reports emerge that Abyss, Alicia, Bolst, Fecaccio, Macbuk, Liwan, and Ario have all failed in their attempts to defeat their Demon Lords. Railu expresses disbelief at the consistent loss of heroes, suggesting that many others have also failed their missions during this time.^[8] Eventually, even Hallow is defeated by Demon Lord, Jachi.^[9]

Despite his defeat, Hallow survives and continues his work as a hero.^[10] While he gradually overcomes his fear of demons,^[11] he still harbors a lingering fear of Jachi's immense strength.^[12]

Titans vs The Neo-Humans Arc

Later, it is revealed that Ario is still alive, having survived by fleeing in fear from his battle with Demon Lord Nyudo.^[13] He eventually volunteers to join the Titan-Herding Team,^[14] successfully completing their mission, but is then captured by the Neo-Humans.^[15]

Demon Lord Arc

Fecaccio's fate is also uncovered; he was transformed into a chimera by Demon Lord Diganazal and served as her loyal servant. He remained under her control until Ginbak defeats him and ultimately kills Diganazal.^[16] It remains unclear if he survived.

Current Arc

Cani appears to have still been alive during the merging of the worlds, resting with her party after surviving an attack by the Demon Lord, Roya Roach's combat executives. Unfortunately, during this time, she encountered members of the Lawless group, Kyokai. They tricked her, extracted intel from her, and then shot her. Afterward, they stole her sword and gave it to Rinri.^[17]
