Chapter 21

The Chief of Titans, Ginbak vs the 23rd Demon Lord, Diganazal ( (だい) (しゅ) (ちょう) ギンバックVS. (だい) 23 () (おう) ディーガナザル Dai shuchō Ginbakku VS. dai 23 maō Dīganazaru?) is the 21st chapter of the Versus manga series.

Summary

In Diganazal's castle, the Demon Lord's servants sing praises to their mistress, whilst she is considering her unexpected guests, Ginbak and his titans, who have dropped into her home. Diganazal acts in a sweet naive manner, asking where the titans came from, wishing to be “friends”. Ginbak and the titans though are dismissive of the demon, only finding that she smells sweet and looks tasty.

In response, the cheerful demon offers one of the titans a cup of tea, which floats to his mouth. After taking a bite of the item, the titan spits shards of the cup at Diganazal, which are immediately deflected by Fecaccio’s sword. Rather than act in distress, Diganazal finds it amusing that their two cultures are vastly different.

Berser tries to be diplomatic and tells Diganazal that they were sent to their present location via magic, and requests to be sent back lest they ravage the area. Diganazal has no interest in listening to the titan and is more engrossed in admiring Ginbak’s exposed muscles.

Ginbak is growing irritated and asks his son Berser if the girl is not understanding. The younger titan though thinks that she might be odd in the head. Plus he has doubts on whether she can use the same magic that brought them to their current location.

The Titan Chief asks what magic, which he mispronounces, and is told by Berser it is a power that some other worlders possess. And when his father questions what are other worlders, mispronouncing it, it shows his ignorance of the situation which Berser sadly says that perhaps it is Ginbak who does not understand.

Diganazal then shows off five more handsome demons who serve her, with Berser noting them to be different compared to the demons the titans have encountered so far. Diganazal explains that the demons they see before them were once sick or injured, but thanks to her they now rival the top demons. The girl goes on to introduce herself as a Demon Lord who is tasked with research and development for the Great Demon King Army. To support the Great Demon King Byakuo, Diganazal has improved many demons and life forms, combining them with the intent to create the ultimate army.

To the titans who have trained beyond their physical limits, Diganazal believes she may increase their strength by more than tenfold and offers a hand in friendship. Ginbak in a bored expression asks her if she is done begging for her life, a statement that the Demon Lord does not find amusing.

Berser, undeterred, declares that titans value strength above all else, explaining that true power lies in pushing their physical limits. He credits his father for this philosophy, though Ginbak flatly denies ever making such a statement. Berser, undisturbed, tells his father to stop talking, insisting this is a battle of class.

For Diganazal, she takes the titans refusal to her friendship with pity and decides that force would be better, before sending her demon butlers out to attack. The demons transform into grotesque creatures as they run at the titans. Ginbak responds by raising a single hand and simply slaps the mob, pulverizing them into bits of blood and flesh. Already bored the Titan Chief tells the Demon Lord to come at him.

Almost instantaneously Ginbak is attacked with a slicing technique that starts from his outstretched hand to all across his body. It is revealed to be the brainwashed Fecaccio who has been transformed into a chimera by Diganazal. Berser checks to see if his father is alright as he just has been hit with a slicing attack at sonic speed, but Ginbak is no worse for wear finding that it tickled. Fecaccio, with Rythmi embedded in his chest, activates his attack of Agitato Drive and charges at Ginbak, who easily neutralizes him by smashing the Hero to the ground with his fist. The force by Ginbak though destroys the floor causing the titans to fall in a massive domed chamber which is lined with thousands bodies of demons and monsters nailed to its walls.

Ginbak seeing the scene is confused, wondering if the corpses on the walls are being preserved as food. His son, Berser, though suspects this is some sort of storage facility where all of Diganazal’s “friends” eventually end up. Determined to claim the titans' bodies, Diganazal builds a massive Chimera Suit in her Burst form, and engages Ginbak in battle. After briefly wrestling with Ginbak through a test of strength, she paralyzes him, ensnaring the other titans in spider webs before unleashing a relentless flurry of attacks on Ginbak. She drops necromancer's pet maggots into Ginbak's nostrils, claiming they will consume him from the inside. While she boasts and holds Ginbak by the neck, only does she notice that he is snoring, and realizes he has fallen asleep. He awakens, refreshed, claiming her attacks provided a soothing massage.

Diganazal is left dumbstruck when the titan exhales, blowing out the maggots she just infected into his body, purging it out his his system. Afterwards Ginbak seizes the Chimera Suit hosting the Demon Lord, telling her she is boring and begins to crush it in his mighty arms.

She calls for her chimera slaves but, to her frustration, they only begin to praise her as they had done in the beginning. Having very little options, the Demon Lord tries bartering for her life, but the merciless chief says that he is tired of listening to her pleas, before crushing her and containing her vengeful self-destruction between his palms.

Ginbak gives the crushed ball to one of his sons, however the condensed weight kills the titan. The death causes Ginbak to become distraught of his son’s death, however at the same time shows his deep respect for Diganazal’s last act of defiance by taking one of his sons. The chief then casually tosses the corpse of his son away, before asking Berser where they are. Unfortunately, Berser tells his father that he killed the only person who could have answered that question.
