Personality

Gakuhito has a very strict moral code and is very serious. When Hachina gives away money that should have been evidence in a case, Gakuhito freaks out when Hachina says it doesn't matter because no-one knows besides them that the money existed in the first place. He also does not like to believe in crazy ideas, like when Captain Lacy was suggesting that plants have feelings akin to humans.

Relationships

  • Hachina Naoki: He admires Hachina a great deal and is very impressed with his gambling skills. Gakuhito even has an argument with Kaji Takaomi over whether Hachina or Madarame Baku will win Surpassing the Leader. Hachina reciprocates good feelings towards Gakuhito, and even says he wants to stay as Hachina with Gakuhito for a bit longer [1]

Notes & Trivia

  • Hachina's nickname for him, "Gakuto", is a reference to Japanese musician Gackt.[2] Hachina giving Oofuna the name 'Gakuto' which derives from his name Gakuhito is a reflection of the same way that Baku had given him the nickname 'Hal' which derived from his name Hachina and is play on the word Haru and reference to HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
