Bandai Kaoru (番代 薫, Bandai Kaoru; "Kaoru Bandai") was Referee #10 in Kakerou.[1] He was the personal Referee for Gyeongho Jonglyo in the 卍 held on Protoporos island.[2]
Appearance
Bandai had a frog-like face. He wore the typical black referee suit. In the official playing card set, Bandai is depicted having reddish hair with white streaks.
Personality
Bandai had such an extreme hatred towards anyone who isn't loyal to Kakerou that he was allergic to them. This caused Bandai to need to sneeze around "Kakerou traitors".[3] Bandai thought that rules are established and should be followed, but that the way people follow rules differs from person to person. [4]
History
Prior to Mekama Kirou's death, Bandai was an S-Rank Sweeper in Kakerou.[5] When Mekama died, Bandai was switched to the Referee #10 position.
Plot
Protoporos Arc
During the 卍, Bandai and Mitaka Hana were presiding Gyeongho Jonglyo and Kyara's Battle in the 卍. Bandai was disgusted to be in the same area as three traitors, so he sneezed into his and Mitaka's handkerchiefs, which started a ranking battle.[6] Bandai suggested the game for Jonglyo and Kyara's battle: Duel for the Antidote. In Duel for the Antidote, both parties have to drink poison, but there is only one antidote. The antidote can only cure the poison within the first five minutes after being ingested, which makes it a quick and exciting fight.[7] Bandai and Mitaka also decided that this game should be used for their ranking battle.[8]
Bandai and Mitaka fought their ranking battle towards the end of Jonglyo and Kyara's fight, since the ranking battle only required ten seconds. Bandai was going to crush the antidote to make it so Mitaka could not survive, even if it would cost Bandai's own life.[9] But Bandai was tricked, and Mitaka made him believe that the pill was a fake, so he did not crush it.[10] Mitaka defeated Bandai in the end, and he died.[11]

- Bandai was an S-Rank Sweeper and a Referee within Kakerou, which suggests he was incredibly strong.
Relationships
- Gyeongho Jonglyo: Bandai was Jonglyo's personal referee during the 卍.
- Amen Makoto: Amen was shocked when she saw Bandai was dead.[13]
- Mitaka Hana: Bandai looked down on Mitaka immensely, and called her a "bitch" and "whore."[14][15]

- Bandai makes abnormal sounds when he blows his nose.
- Bandai shares the same given name, Kaoru (薫), with Yukiide Kaoru.
