Super Amy,[note 1] officially known as Superpowered Amy,[1] is a transformation that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is the Super State of Amy Rose, achieved by harnessing the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds.
Appearance
When assuming this Super State, Amy's pink fur pulses between its regular shade and a bright whitish color, similar to Super Knuckles. In Sonic Superstars, it also gives off a golden glow.
Game appearances
Sonic Origins Plus

In Sonic Origins Plus, Amy can become Super Amy after the player collects all seven Chaos Emeralds. The form can be activated when the player has collected at least fifty Rings. Once Amy is transformed, she loses one Ring every second, and she will lose her Super State when the Ring count has hit zero, the Act's boss has been defeated, or, in the case of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, she has entered a Bonus Stage.
In gameplay, Super Amy is invincible and can run faster. However, she is still vulnerable to drowning or being crushed.
Sonic Superstars
In Sonic Superstars, Amy can use "Super Powers" after collecting the seven Chaos Emeralds. After transforming, the player's Ring count will begin decreasing by one every second. In gameplay, Super Amy possesses invincibility, increased running speed, and increased jump height for as long as the transformation lasts.
Powers and abilities
Due to being infused with the seven Chaos Emeralds' power, Super Amy accordingly commands ultimate power[2] and has access to unlimited energy.[3]
Super Amy is capable of using her Hammer Attack in mid-air, granting her Spin Attack added range.
Trivia
- This is the first super transformation the Sonic video games that is assumed by a female character with the Chaos Emeralds, and in general since Burning Blaze in Sonic Rush, after 18 years. It is also the first transformation in general that is assumed by a female since Overclocked Nicole in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by Archie Comics.
- Of the hedgehogs with a super transformation, Amy has had the largest gap between her introduction and the first time she could enter a Super State; she debuted in Sonic the Hedgehog CD but did not receive a super transformation until Sonic Origins Plus, almost 30 years later.
- The only other hedgehog with a gap between their debut and first super transformation is Sonic, who debuted in Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) and had his first super transformation in Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
- This is the first time a super transformation used by a hedgehog does not turn the user's fur gold or makes their quills point upwards.
- It does, however, give off a golden glow and her quills go upward briefly in Sonic Superstars.

Notes
- ↑ Although collecting all Chaos Emeralds allows Amy Rose to turn into her Super form, the text prompt naming the Super form does not appear. Instead, like Hyper Tails in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, the text prompt appears when unlocking Hyper Amy.
