Jun Senoue (瀬上 純 Senoue Jun?) is a video game composer and musician from Wave Master, well known for some of his contributions in many Sonic the Hedgehog games. Currently he lives in San Francisco, California, USA along with Sonic Team USA.
History

Senoue started playing the piano at the age of three, but when he picked up the electric guitar at the age of fifteen, he began to enter the rock world. He joined and created bands in Japan. In 1993, after graduating from college, he joined Sega as a video game composer, doing sound works for games such as Sonic the Hedgehog 3. His first game he composed was for the Genesis version of Sonic 3D Blast. He is most well known for his compositions and songs in Sonic Adventure, in which some tunes are recycled from his first work. For example, one portion of the Windy Valley zone uses music from Green Grove Zone from Sonic 3D Blast. He has worked the most with Johnny Gioeli, and both are currently in a band entitled Crush 40.
Senoue continued to compose in-game music and theme songs for the 3D Sonic games such as Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog featuring music contributed by his band Crush 40. The band itself has also done work for games such as Sega Rally 2 and Formula 1: Beyond the Limit. Senoue and Crush 40 contributed a cover version of Magna-Fi's "All Hail Shadow" for the next-gen Sonic the Hedgehog game, as well as an alternative version of the main theme "His World" (featured as a bonus track on the games official soundtrack), and the LB vs. JS remix of "Dreams of an Absolution", Silver the Hedgehog's theme. Most recently Senoue helped compose some of the music and program all of the sound effects for Sonic Team USA's latest (and final) game, Nights: Journey of Dreams.
In 2005, Senoue released an EP with Japanese voice actress Junko Noda entitled "Ready!". The project went under the name JxJ (Jun x Junko) and is only available in Japan, though copies have made their way stateside through the Jun Senoue fan page.
In 2007, Senoue provided three new arrangements for the Japanese console release of Outrun 2 SP, including covers of series staples "Splash Wave" and "Rush a Difficulty", and new original track entitled "Lift You Up!". The songs are also available on the "Outrun 20th Anniversary" box CD set. He is also one of 38 composers for the Wii game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, having contributed an arrangement of the Angel Island Zone theme from Sonic the Hedgehog 3, as well as the original version of "Live and Learn".
Jun Senoue also served as sound director and remixed a number of songs, including Sonic and the Black Knight and the Modern versions of the Classic era stages, in Sonic Generations. He contributed to some composition in Sonic Forces. He also collaborated with Hyper Potions on their song "Time Trials Plus", for the Sonic Mania Plus trailer. He also provided various remixes of songs in Sonic Colors: Ultimate.

Trivia
- Some of Senoue's influences included the UK rock band Duran Duran and Australian band, AC/DC.
- In 2010, Senoue was in a band with former Magna-Fi member C.J. Szuter called Bubblicious Blvd.
- Senoue's favorite Sonic game to have composed for is Sonic Adventure 2, while his favorite game in the series to play is Sonic the Hedgehog 2.[2]
- Senoue's favorite character in the series (apart from Sonic) is Shadow the Hedgehog.[2]
- Besides official video game works and Crush 40, Jun Senoue also participates in live performances during special events such as anniversaries, Summer of Sonic, live performances with Tomoya Ohtani[3] and Hyper Potions, and more recently the Sonic Symphony World Tour.[4]
- Senoue was requested by Nintendo to pick a song to arrange for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. As he was allowed to pick any song he wanted, he picked a Mega Man track, specifically a medley of music from Mega Man 4 in the style of a typical Sonic song. He was inspired to do so after seeing graphic novels from Sonic & Mega Man: Worlds Collide and Worlds Unite, specifically Sonic the Hedgehog/Mega Man: Worlds Collide: The Complete Epic and Sonic the Hedgehog/Mega Man: Worlds Unite Vol. 1: Deadly Fusion.[5]
